Thornton Wilder reworked the play, The Merchant of Yonkers into the famous play, The Matchmaker. It had a nice run on Broadway with 486 performances, and also won a Tony award for it's director, Tyrone Guthrie. It later becavme the basis for the 1964 Broadway sensation, Hello, Dolly!
