Coca-Cola Commercial

Winter/Spring 1971

Plot / Description

Hilltop
The commercial begins with a closeup of a singing woman (solo). As the camera pans back, we can see more and more people who join in the singing. All the people are of all countries, colors, ethnicities, backgrounds, cultures, etc. Each of them is holding a glass bottle of Coca Cola and standing on a grassy hillside (near Rome in Italy).

Voiceover

I'd like to buy the world a home
and furnish it with love.
Grow apple trees and honey bees
and snow white turtle doves.
I'd like to teach the world to sing (sing with me)
in perfect harmony (perfect harmony).
I'd like to buy the world a Coke
and keep it company (that's the Real Thing).
I'd like to teach the world to sing
in perfect harmony.
I'd like to buy the world a Coke
and keep it company (and it's the Real Thing).
What the world wants today is the real thing
