Peter talks about the first TV pilot he wrote. It was called Big Jaws, and the story line was simliar to the movie Jaws. In Peter's pilot however, when the men see Jaws while on the boat, they see an even bigger Jaws behind them. They then team up with Jaws to go after the bigger Jaws.

The title of this episode is a reference to Tyler Perry's House of Payne.

Since Brian wrote a script for a TV pilot, it is suggested that he must feel like Hitler after he wrote Mein Kampf.

At the beginning of the episode, Stewie is playing pretend, flying a rocket ship with Rupert. He recites some of the lyrics to the song 'Rocket Man', by telling Rupert, "I miss the Earth so much, I miss my wife. It's lonely out in space."
