In the first episode, we meet Mary Shannon, a US Marshal for the Witness Protection Program. In this episode, Mary and Marshall are on their way to drop off a new Ukrainian witness when Stan calls them about the murder of one of Mary's previous witness's son. She tries to figure out what went wrong when a mobster's son who was under her protection is killed while Stan tries to figure out what to get her for her birthday. 
 
Mary's sister Brandi arrives in town. Mary's boyfriend, Raph, tries to scare her by leaving Brandi in the truck with two of his friends catcalling him, but Brandi turns out to be able to hotwire the truck and leave him stranded at the youth center.
