Marshall's friend from college plays a game called 'Edward 40hands' a parody of the film 'Edward Scissorhands' where instead of having scissor hands, 40-ounce bottles of beer are taped to each hand, and the bottles can't be removed until the beer is gone.

Barney wears a neck brace when he meets Nora, in an attempt to gain sympathy from her. When Nora asks why he's wearing a neck brace, he tells her that he was in a performance of 'Fiddler' and there was an accident involving a Roof.

Barney enters Ted's apartment with crutches and a cast on his leg, explaining that he is going to meet Nora and he wants to get sympathy from her after being a jerk at their last meeting.
