Doug is asked to join Carrie's law firm's softball team, but he has to pretend to be a lawyer in order to be permitted to play on the team. Carrie is worried that Doug won't be able to be convincing in his new role. Doug is better than she expects and ends up getting an offer from the opposing team's law firm to come work for them - as an experienced attorney.
Meanwhile, Arthur learns that his ancestors were slave owners. Since Deacon is the only black man he knows, he insists on paying him reparations.
