Carrie wants a promotion at work, but her boss tells her that her chances are slim at getting the promition because of the accent she has when she speaks. Carrie is upset, and has Spence give her diction lessons to learn how to speak more clearly and ladylike.
Doug's mom comes to visit, and sits in on the guy's poker game. Doug realizes that she is quite good, so he invites her to sit in on more games to win him some big bucks.
