The day gets off to a rocky start when rumors from the Wall Street Journal point to financial troubles for Dunder Mifflin. In an attempt to get the worried staff under control, Michael and Jim call the monthly staff meeting to provide what few assurances and optimistic viewpoints they can on the steadily worsening news. In a moment of quick thinking, Michael pulls out a party game, Belles, Bourbon, and Bullets, and forces the rest of the staff to play along. Jim tries to stop him, citing that today is one of the few days they cannot afford to play around, but is reminded that he owes Michael 'one' after he stopped another idea called "Tube City".

Conrad, Nancy and Sanjay run into complications with U-Turn, the Armenians and Peter at the deal. Silas sabotages Celia's drug-free policy, putting him in her crosshairs and makes a defiant move that endangers Nancy. Kat and Andy attempt to evade a bounty hunter after Shane's graduation. Dean learns of Celia's affair with Doug.

Phil, Claire, and the kids try to improve their communication skills by giving up their electronic devices. Gloria is getting obsessed over a neighbor's barking dog, and Mitchell and Cameron try to find a preschool for Lily.

Donna and Cleveland score court-side seats to an all-star basketball game; Rallo makes a new friend.

Lito experiences PMS via Sun. Sun has a difficult decision to make. Kala is getting married, when the proceedings are interrupted by a visit from Wolfgang.

When Michael is invited to interview for a position at Dunder-Mifflin corporate headquarters in New York City, he decides to hold a Survivor-like competition at Lake Scranton to determine his successor. Michael selects the "tribe" captains (Jim, Dwight, Andy and Stanley), and instructs Pam to take detailed notes on the events of the day. Initially unaware of the purpose of the exercise, the employees do not all take it seriously. Once the job in New York is revealed, Andy and Dwight step up their efforts, Stanley tries to be enthusiastic but gives up, and Jim decides to interview for the same position that Michael is pursuing. Karen also applies for the position. To support her secret lover Dwight, Angela sabotages Andy, leaving him adrift in the lake in an inflatable sumo wrestling costume. Michael's final event is a walk across hot coals. Initially, no one volunteers, and Michael cannot even bring himself to do it. Dwight throws himself on the coals, refusing to leave until he is given the job, and he writhes in agony until he is dragged off. As a last-ditch effort to salvage the day, Michael assembles a "Tribal Council" stand-up comedy competition. Jim declines to participate, and reveals that he has applied for the position in New York. Separated from the group, a barefoot Pam runs across the hot coals and, empowered by the experience, interrupts the Tribal Council to berate her colleagues for treating her poorly, citing as one example that almost no one attended her art show. She tells Jim that she called off her wedding because of him, that it is "fine" that he is with someone else now, but that she misses the fun that they had as best friends. As she runs to cool her feet in the water, all eyes turn to Jim who is now in a blank stare, shaken by the confession.

Promoting a new book she has written, Leslie falls victim to some less-than-professional journalism.

Locke discovers that he is losing sensation in his legs. Locke and Boone find a Beechcraft 18 teetering on the edge of a cliff. Boone climbs up and, using the radio, sends out a distress call, "We are the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815", to which a man responds "We're the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815." The plane falls and Locke carries a critically injured Boone back to the camp. Locke arrives at the caves with Boone and lies about how Boone got hurt. Locke disappears into the jungle. As he pounds on the hatch and screaming in anguish, the inside of the hatch suddenly becomes illuminated. In flashbacks, Locke meets his parents and his father cons him out of a kidney.

When Stan realizes he has no friends, he prays to God for one -- only to find that his new pal is atheist. Meanwhile, Roger convinces Steve that he has been accepted at Hogwarts -- and gets him involved with methamphetamine dealers.

Dev and Rachel attend a wedding and he thinks about their life together and realizes that if they get married, it might only be because it's the point in life in which society dictates they should settle down. Dev meets his dad for advice, who asks if he really wants to be an actor, and Dev is unsure. He, Rachel, his friends, and his parents then attend The Sickening's premiere. Dev's scenes were cut from the film, and Rachel drunkenly yells at the director. Dev shares with Rachel his concerns about their future and yells that if they're not 100% sure they'll be happy with each other forever, they shouldn't even try. She moves out, and a few days later informs Dev that she's moving to Tokyo, as she has always dreamed of this and must do it before it's too late. Dev meets up with Benjamin (who was also cut from the film), and both talk about their relationships. Benjamin says that even after being married for 23 years, he still isn't 100% sure it'll last forever - stating that "100% doesn't actually exist". After, Dev makes up his mind and also buys a plane ticket: to Italy, so that he can study at a culinary school.

Lorna's husband leaves her after she announces her pregnancy. The imprisoned guards are forced to clean bunks. Poussey's friends try to think of the best way to honor her memory. Brook wants it to be something Poussey herself would have wanted, and they reinvigorate the library by putting books all over the prison. Red, with help from Blanca, tries to entice Piscatella into the prison. Linda has sex with Big Boo. Red tries to guess Humphrey's smartphone password, and ends up cutting off his fingertip to access it using his thumbprint. Another riot breaks out, but this time it's because they are out of coffee.

A new employee with an axe to grind against Audrey files a sexual harassment claim against her. Meanwhile, after being teased for playing cricket, Timmy challenges Jeff to a game to prove the sport is not for wimps.

Ruth's sister Sarah visits causing much pain and closure; the Fishers are visited for a second time by Mitzi Dalton-Huntley. Brenda's sexual addiction worsen when she notices her massage client has an erection and gives him a surprised happy finish without asking first.

Jeff has the hots for his statistics professor and is determined to take her out on a date. He finds the perfect opportunity to pursue her but it happens to interfere with a Day of the Dead party Annie is throwing for their Spanish class. Meanwhile, Pierce comes to terms with being old.

Twenty-four hours before Selina's first major speech as President, her staff frantically tries to work out how she can say two completely opposite things (cuts in the military/ spending on the families first bill) at the same time. But, just before the speech begins, everything falls apart. The staff adjusts to their new roles in the White House: Gary questions his worth now that he can no longer be close to Selina. Jonah is put off by the hands-on approach of the new VP's chief of staff, Teddy. Amy learns that Bill Ericsson, a rival campaign manager, may make a play for her job. Mike is trying to be healthy.

Leslie and the rest of the committee help an organization named KaBOOM! build a small playground in a neighboring town. When the playground is finished (in just one day) Leslie becomes frustrated with the lack of progress with getting the pit turned into a park and goes to Mark for advice on speeding things up.

Barney and his father, Jerry Whitiker, meet for the first time as father and son. The rest of the gang are struggling with certain issues - each has a "gap in knowledge".

Phil contemplates the worst, after missing a call from the doctor. Elsewhere, Javier, Manny's biological father, pays another visit to take his son to the horse races, and Mitchell wins an environmental law award, sparking a competition.

When Stewie's new best friend falls ill, Lois takes him to the hospital where she finds out he has a critical, but treatable, disease. However, the boy's parents refuse treatment due to their religious beliefs, leaving Lois no choice but to take drastic measures to seek treatment for the boy herself. Meanwhile, Peter has a religious experience of his own.

When a modernized Springfield Elementary has a technical meltdown, Lisa turns the school into a waldorf school while Willie coaches the mathletes.

The day after the Election, Selina begins wooing congressmen before the vote in congress that will decide her presidency, while dealing with a plummeting stock market, a new "stress-pimple" and Chinese hackers. On the night after the election, Selina discovers a possible road to victory in Nevada. Meanwhile, Amy must figure out if she is back or not; Catherine kicks off a behind-the-scenes documentary project; Mike announces that he and Wendy are adopting a baby from China; Dan considers a new career; Richard is proven to be very useful and Cliff returns as Jonah's new assistant. Selina leads a symposium on race, that quickly turns bad. Again, Bill Ericsson is scapegoated.

Red gets pressured to smuggle drugs through her kitchen; Larry publishes an article about Piper in the "New York Times;" two babies come into the world.

Claire must rein in her enthusiasm for Halloween and keep her celebration kid-friendly; Phil decides to hold an open house on Halloween; Mitch and Cam have a costume party; Gloria's hormones make her more quick-tempered than usual.

Gloria and Jay try to make Manny's 14th birthday extra special by planning a surprise party; Haley starts hanging out with a much older guy and Gloria gives birth.

Peter and the guys come to doubt with Quagmire's flying abilities on a trip to San Francisco.

Dev, being from a Muslim family, must fake being devout while his cousins are visiting. While hanging out with his younger cousin Navid, Navid reveals that while he believes in God and does Friday prayer, he does not wish to be confined to older practices, such as not eating pork. Navid convinces Dev to go with him to a food festival and skip Eid prayer. Dev later reveals to his family that he is not religious. His mother is upset, and doesn't wish to speak to him. Two weeks later, his father informs Dev since they raised him to be Muslim, his rejection of religion makes his mother feel like a failure. That night, he reads a copy of the Qur'an his mother gave him as a child, and texts her. They make up, coming to terms with the others' spirituality.

Even though Ted and his new girlfriend share none of the same interests, Barney continues to urge Ted to keep seeing her...until he learns who she is. Meanwhile, Robin is learning to adapt to her new status as an engaged woman.

Max tries to prove to Brad that he doesn't need to spend a large amount of money to enjoy his Saturday; Dave and Alex drive their real estate agent crazy while they look for a new apartment; and Jane insists on helping Penny buy a new car after having recently sold her car.

Peter and Carter go to Africa to get their money back after they are swindled in an e-mail scam. Meanwhile, Brian pursues Meg's friend, Patty.

When a storm hits in Quahog, to help pass the time and calm his nerves, Brian consumes some questionable substances and has trouble sobering up. Meanwhile, Meg goes off the deep end after the family takes one too many jabs at her.

Barney gets unnerved as Marshall prepares to give him the final slaps of the Slap Bet, one of them being the so-called "Slap of a Million Exploding Suns."

During a trip in London, Selina is bombarded with questions regarding the influence of Ray and his online beliefs, which have been recovered by Jonah; Dan has a breakdown which could work in Amy's favor. Selina makes some appearances, including a visit to a local pub and a speech at a War Service. The team learns of the suicide attempt of the First Lady.

Lois books a vacation for her and Peter in the Bahamas, but when they arrive, Peter learns it is actually a marriage counseling program. Meanwhile, Carter watches the Griffin children, but becomes frustrated that all of them simply want to use electronics instead of playing games the old-fashioned way.

Jackie criticizes Kelly's interaction with two flirty high school girls while Mrs. Akalitus seeks Thor's help with a new phone system. Jackie can't arrive in time at her daughter's pageant.

Lisa learns a shocking truth about her beloved fantasy novel characters, while Homer and Bart try to capitalize on the obsession over fantasy novels and decide to create one of their own.

Michael learns that Martin Nash is a former criminal, and tells the entire office. Meanwhile, Jim encourages Andy to pursue Pam, and intentionally gives him wildly incorrect information about her favorite things. Martin tells the others he was incarcerated for insider trading, and that he enjoyed certain perks of prison, including outside time and art classes. Pam comments that prison sounds better than their current work situation. Attempting to convince his employees that the office is better than prison, Michael sends everyone to "outside time" in the bitter cold. He then calls a meeting in which he adopts the persona of "Prison Mike," in a segment reminiscent of the Scared Straight! documentaries. Martin comments that Michael's performance did not remind him of his time in prison. This further infuriates Michael, who then locks all of the staff inside the conference room. Toby tells Michael the staff is simply teasing him. A relieved Michael relents, but Martin chooses to quit. Andy strums "The Rainbow Connection" on his banjo, while singing falsetto and in pig latin. Pam smiles politely and silently shares the joke with Jim.

Determined to help Liz keep a man for once, Jack meddles in her relationship with Carol. While at home, Jack struggles to compromise with Avery as she redecorates his apartment. Tracy has trouble coming to grips with Kenneth getting fired and Jenna becomes one of the newest TGS producers.

A bully picks on Jordan at school, and Bernie's solution is to teach the boy to box. Guest star: Sugar Ray Leonard

After learning that Axl text-invited the wrong girl to prom and plans to solve the situation by standing her up, Frankie and Mike demand that he meet the girl face-to-face in a timely manner to gently break off the date - or face the music and take her to the big event. Meanwhile, Sue and her friend, Carly, try in earnest to fit in with the school's "B" crowd during lunch, and after a successful first show, Brick begins to bore Frankie and Mike with his impromptu one-man plays.

Vince's fling with a "cruelty-free" vegan named Fiona-and her friendship with a laid-back L.A. "sherpa" -brings unexpected karma to the entourage. Eric pushes a promising new script set in Queens.

Ted runs into "The Slutty Pumpkin" (Katie Holmes) but realizes that she is not "The One". Meanwhile, Barney learns he is part Canadian, and Lily has pregnancy brain.

Leslie's plan to bury a time capsule depicting life in modern-day Pawnee is derailed when a local man makes an unusual request and throws the project into chaos. Andy goes to Ron for advice on winning back April.

Ann throws Leslie a bachelorette party that gets interrupted by Councilman Jamm and leads to the return of Ken Hotate, while Chris has a bachelor's party for Ben that turns into a celebration of the parties that Tom, Andy, Ron and even Jerry never got to have

Frankie decides to spend Valentine's Day with her friends, but they decide to throw in the guys. At dinner, all of the guys buy roses for their wifes, except for Mike who has now got on Frankie's bad side. Meanwhile, Brick is assigned a paper on love and decides to write about Frankie & Mike's love. Axl has a school assignment where he has to talk about a life changing event, but he thinks nothing special has happened in his life. Also, Sue discovers her boyfriend is a bad kisser, but she doesn't know how to tell him.

A drunken playboy stands to lose a wealthy inheritance when he falls for a woman his family doesn't like.

New York City Detective Allen Gamble is a forensic accountant who is more interested in paperwork than fieldwork. Detective Terry Hoitz has been stuck working with Gamble since an embarrassing shooting. Gamble and Hoitz both admire top cops Danson and Manzetti, but when their chance to show their stuff arises, things go wrong.

While performing on Lake Springfield, the rock band Green Day is killed when pollution in the lake erodes their barge. At a memorial service, Grampa has a prophetic vision in which he predicts the impending doom of the town, but only Marge takes it seriously. Lisa and an Irish boy named Colin, with whom she has fallen in love, hold a meeting where they convince the town to clean up the lake. Meanwhile, Homer adopts a pig from Krusty Burger. Homer stores the pig's feces in an overflowing silo which Marge tells him to dispose of safely. However, Homer gets distracted and instead dumps the silo in the lake, re-polluting it. Moments later, a squirrel jumps into the lake and becomes severely mutated. Nearby, Flanders and Bart discover the squirrel during a hike, and the EPA captures it. Russ Cargill, head of the EPA, presents five options to President Schwarzenegger to keep Springfield's pollution contained; he randomly picks the action of enclosing Springfield in a large glass dome. When the police discover Homer's silo in the lake, an angry mob of townspeople approach the Simpsons' home and set the house on fire, but the family escapes through a sinkhole and flees to Alaska. The trapped citizens damage the dome over time and Cargill, not wanting news of what he has done to become widespread, plans to destroy Springfield. In Alaska, the Simpsons see an advertisement for a new Grand Canyon to be located on the site where Springfield is located. Marge and the kids decide to go and save the town, but Homer refuses to help the people who tried to kill them. The family abandons Homer and leaves but are captured by the EPA and placed back in the dome. After a visit from a mysterious Inuit shaman, Homer has an epiphany and believes he must save the town in order to save himself.
