mophie was founded in 2006 by Daniel Huang and Shawn Dougherty as mStation. It started as a manufacturer of speakers and cases for iPods. The company moved its operations from southern California to Kalamazoo, Michigan where Dougherty's barn was used for the company's operations. mStation acquired the assets of Mophie in 2007 and launched its first iPhone juice pack in 2008, generating $2.6 million in sales.
