"Roots: The Saga of an American Family" tells the story of Kunta Kinte, an 18th century African, captured as an adolescent and sold into slavery in the United States, and follows his life and the lives of his descendants in the U.S. down to Haley himself.

When Pierce lands in the hospital, he believes he's dying and gives the study group specific gifts that are actually meant to torment them. Britta wonders what to do with a blank check for "charity," Jeff ponders the idea of meeting his father, and Troy gets to meet LeVar Burton.

Marty is angered at a client's secret as the firm takes on a hair company; Clyde is worried Jeannie will come between him and a new client, mayoral candidate Seth Buckley.
