The Birds

BIRD is the creation of Adele Emmas, Sian Williams, Alexis Samata and Christian Sandford. Hailing from Liverpool, they create dark, haunting yet enrapturing music which will entice you into their otherworldly universe. With a dynamic mixture of power and fragility, BIRD combine hypnotic, tribal drum beats, atmospheric guitars and dreamlike synth-scapes to create the foundation for Adele Emmas' beautiful, siren-esque vocals and lyrical poetry. After releasing two EPs (one of which was produced by composer and ex The Coral guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones) and touring the UK twice, BIRD have gained a large loyal following and garnered praise from all corners, including BBC Radio 1, 2,3, 6music and have even been personally invited to play sessions for Simon Raymonde (The Cocteau Twins/Bella Union). The Guardian, Metro, NYLON, NME and Channel 4 have all featured the band. Support slots with the likes of Wild Beasts, Soley, PINS, Poltergeist (Echo and The Bunnymen) and Stealing Sheep have cemented BIRD as a formidable live presence, and they were invited in 2013 to play at Festival Number 6, The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City. Now with new Liverpool label Baltic Records, launched in 2013 under ADA and working closely with Seymour Stein (Warner), BIRD have been working with producer Darren Jones to create their debut album titled 'My Fear and Me'. Retaining the atmosphere and dark heart of their early EPs, and combining this with melodic hooks, stark lyrical imagery and intensely-layered soundscapes, the band utilised instruments such as harp and theremin to add to their unique sound. With instruments recorded in a church and vocals recorded in darkness, BIRD have carefully honed this collection of songs to tell stories of the soul through the sounds within.

The film is a biopic, a tribute to the life and music of jazz saxophonist Charlie "Bird" Parker, written by Joel Oliansky. It is constructed as a collage of scenes from Parker's life, from his childhood in Kansas City, through his marriage to Chan Richardson, to his early death at the age of thirty-four.

Adam Jones is a Chef who destroyed his career with drugs and diva behavior. He cleans up and returns to London, determined to redeem himself by spearheading a top restaurant that can gain three Michelin stars.

Elaine tries to convert a gay man. George discovers that the woman Kramer has set him up with is bald. Kramer begins standing in police lineups for $50 a lineup. Jerry begins to date a cop, but she wants him to take a lie detector test about Melrose Place.

Carter becomes friends with a group of misfits at school who decide to help her mess with Elizabeth, who is obsessed with tracking down Lori. Elizabeth also insists that everyone show up to therapy, which infuriates Carter even more. Taylor begins to resent Carter re-entering their lives, as she is jealous of Carter's growing bond with Gabe and her "cooler" lifestyle. Grant is becoming attached to Carter and is afraid that she will leave them some day soon for her life back with Lori. After a night of intense partying, Carter lands in the hospital.

"The Birds" is a famous novelette by Daphne du Maurier, first published in her 1952 collection The Apple Tree, and reprinted in the 1963 collection The Birds and Other Stories. It is the story of a part-time farmhand, Nat Hocken, his wife and children Jill and Johnny, as a massive number of birds begin attacking them and presumably the whole of Europe. It is set in Britain, probably at the Cornish coast shortly after the end of World War II, and is thought to have been inspired by the author watching a man plowing his field, while some seagulls were wheeling and diving above him; Du Maurier developed the idea of these birds becoming hostile and attacking.
