Baseball: Bluto's Bears vs. Popeye's Pirates, and both Bluto and Popeye have girlfriends cheering them on. As they take the field, Popeye drops his spinach. Bluto eats it, then refills the can with grass. Popeye's team, with Popeye batting first, strikes out. Bluto's team, with Bluto batting fourth, gets 3 singles; Popeye eats his "spinach" (to no avail, of course), and Bluto gets a grand slam homer. Last inning: Bluto's team leads 21-0, Popeye at bat. Bluto's first pitch turns invisible. The second pitch hovers just before the plate. The third pitch turns all kinds of loops at the plate; Popeye has struck out. For some reason, Popeye then takes the mound. After another hit, Popeye plants some spinach seeds, and eats the quick-growing plant. He then throws two quick strikes (which he catches himself), then a hit which he catches himself, and so on, taking a bonus inning and winning the game 22-21.

Me Musical Nephews is a 1942 one-reel animated cartoon directed by Seymour Kneitel and animated by Tom Johnson and George Germanetti. The cartoon features Popeye and his nephews Pipeye, Poopeye, Pupeye, and Peepeye. It is the 113th episode of the Popeye series, which was released on December 25, 1942. All of the cartoon characters' voices were performed by Jack Mercer, who also co-wrote the cartoon with writer Jack Ward. Me Musical Nephews was remade in color as Riot in Rhythm in 1950. There were a few differences made for these cartoons; for example, an uncredited Sammy Timberg composed the music for Me Musical Nephews, while the music for Riot in Rhythm was by Winston Sharples. Also in Riot in Rhythm, there is no mention of Swee'Pea. The animated cartoon is in the public domain in the United States. One night, the nephews are practicing playing their music while Popeye is continually falling asleep. He tells them to get ready for bed so he can tell them a story. The nephews are unhappy with the short story (which is a cross between Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and Little Miss Muffet) but are sent to bed anyway. The nephews aren't so tired and eventually start playing music with various objects (such as mattress springs, suspenders, and medicine bottles). Popeye eventually hears the racket and destroys the radio trying to find what's causing the noise. He soon finds out it's coming from the nephews and tries to catch them in the act. He fails however and tries to fall asleep anyway. He goes crazy and jumps out of the screen, leaving the film to end with the music playing.

Bluto is the ringmaster; Popeye is the star attraction. Bluto covets Popeye's assistant Olive. Popeye sticks his head in a lion's mouth, but Bluto has put a steak on Popeye's head. When he gets out of that, he does his high wire act: carrying a piano, and Olive, blindfolded. Bluto sabotages this with a banana peel and tosses Popeye to the monkey cage, while he has his way with Olive - until Popeye eats his spinach.

Popeye and Olive are at the rodeo, starring Badlands Bluto. Olive is impressed by Bluto's stunts, many of them designed to make Popeye look bad. Dynamite, the bronco that's never been ridden busts out and Popeye, seeing his chance, downs some spinach and manages an impressive series of tricks, culminating in firing a bullet at Bluto and lassoing it just in time. Bluto's had enough, and he substitutes loco weed for Popeye's spinach, then challenges him to throw the bull. Popeye's fried brain sees the bull as a beautiful woman; he tries to dance with it. The bull throws Popeye against the box where Bluto is now sitting and throws the remaining loco weed into Bluto's open mouth; he sees Olive as a bull and grabs her. He tries to brand her; her cries of help arouse Popeye, who pulls out a fresh can of spinach and goes to work.

Popeye takes Olive to the carnival; while he's busy winning candy at the "ring the bell" stand, strongman Bluto muscles in on her. There follows the inevitable contest, invevitably rigged.

Popeye's nephews practice their music, swinging out at the end. He puts them to bed with a perfunctory story; they say their prayers, finishing by blessing "all the nice people that come to see their pictures." But they're not ready to sleep, so they sneak down to their instruments. Popeye confiscates the instruments (even the piano) so he can get some sleep. The tots quickly realize that common objects in their bedroom can be used as musical instruments and they start swinging out on everything in sight. Popeye can't catch them in the act; they are always asleep when he looks in, even through the window or floorboards. He pulls his bed outside the iris-out, but they follow and he runs down the aisle of the theatre.

Popeye drops a TV off at the orphanage; the program that comes on is a boxing match he's supposed to be in, so he dashes off. The fight is against the champ, who is huge. Popeye gets pummelled in the first round, but his fighting spirit materializes and advises him to outwit his opponent. In the second round, he does so. The champ then uses a light socket to "burn out" Popeye so he can't outthink him, and (as with the rest of this pun-filled match) "knocks him cold", turning him into a block of ice. The orphans feed Popeye his spinach right through the TV set, and he comes back to knock the champ through the screen.

Popeye's snoring is keeping his resident mouse awake. The mouse fights back. Popeye makes a mistake: he traps the mouse in a spinach can that isn't completely empty.

Popeye and Bluto stop by to see Olive and fix her leaky faucet. Popeye does it better, and Bluto gets jealous, so he starts rerouting Olive's plumbing and causing all sorts of leaks. Popeye needs some help from the goldfish to get to his spinach.

Popeye is being honored for his 20 years of films, in a dinner hosted by 'Bob Hope' (several other celebrities are present, like 'Jimmy Durante', Bing Crosby, 'Jerry Lewis' and 'Dean Martin'). When called on to make a speech, he instead shows clips from two of his movies. Bluto does a slow burn through this, finally stuffing Popeye's trophy onto Popeye's head - but the trophy is full of spinach, so Popeye clobbers Bluto.

Popeye and Bluto are taxi drivers; they are, of course, competing for fares - and Olive, in particular. *scatting* This spot is taken, Bub. Ha ha ha. Taxi! Hey, taxi! Coming right up, Bub. The Ritz hotel, son. And step on it. Taxi, Mister? I said the Ritz hotel, dagnabbit. Yipe! That rube was a healthy tipper. Taxi! Yoohoo, taxi! I'm gettin' this fare. 23 Skidoo Street, driver. Popeye is marrying Olive tomorrow; he's ecstatic. She has a dream of the future, including twin sons who prove to be a real handful. When Popeye comes by the next morning, he gets a frosty reception.

Open your mouth and close your eyes. Here comes a nice surprise. Skitery dum and scitery doo, I've got some spinach for all of you. Here you are Pipeye, Peepeye, Pupeye, and Poopeye. But we hate spinach. Huh? You got to eat your spinach if you wants to be strong like your great great great great great uncle Hercules. Hercules? Our uncle? He was strong. He was great. Did he get that way from the spinach he ate? Certainly. It's a hysterical fact. I'll tell you the story how it happened. Once upon a time a long time ago in a distant land far away there lived the strongest man in the world, and the people's best friend - Hercules. One day while Hercules was riding along in his chariot, he saw a baby bird fall off a tree. Jumping out of his tree, he ran to the bird to see what happened. Now, so's he can help the birdie, he has to get strength so he takes a piece of strong garlic and sniffs it. And with his strength, he pushed and pushed and pushed the big tree into the earth. Hercules was awful strong, but very tender. It was garlic that made him strong. Where does the spinach part belong? Don't come to inclusions. You ain't heard everything yet. It is Halloween night and Olive is reading ghost stories to Popeye and Bluto. Both of the men want to have alone time with Olive, with Popeye wondering why Bluto hasn't gone home and Bluto wondering what to do to get rid of Popeye. Bluto decides to stage various pranks (a headless man, an animated skeleton, and a sheet-over-balloon ghost) to scare Olive and Popeye. He pins the blame on Popeye, Olive kicks him out of her house, and Bluto goes to comfort her. Popeye gets back at Bluto by going into Olive's bedroom through her window (which was still open) and uses a jar of vanishing cream to make himself invisible. He scares both Olive and Bluto (mainly Bluto), and Bluto eventually runs out of Olive's house. Popeye reveals himself and Olive kisses him for saving her, getting red lipstick all over Popeye's face. Popeye turns to the audience and says, "Loves them ghosts." And from these ingredients, the witches brew their magic potion. Those who partake of this potent liquid will become imbued with an unearthly spirit. But whoa to the unfortunate disbeliever, for an evil spell shall be cast upon him. So beware this Halloween Eve, when the Earth will be haunted by spooks, ghosts, and hobgoblins. Olive, there ain't no such things. They're just figamatations of the imaginigimanations. Private Eye Popeye gets a call from Olive Oyl to guard a precious gem. But no sooner does he get the gem than the butler takes it (and Olive). The rest of the cartoon is spent chasing the crook to Paris, the Swiss Alps, and North Africa; Popeye always gets there first, but fails to make the arrest until he lucks into some spinach, of course.

A virtual remake of Customers Wanted (1939), with Popeye and Bluto running competing penny arcades showing customer Wimpy clips from past shorts, though in this case, rather than each arcade owner showing clips from the same story, they show different stories.

Popeye and Olive are driving through hillbilly country; a very large woman hillbilly is in search of a man, and grabs Popeye. And when Popeye's spinach falls, it's up to Olive to save the day.

Bluto is accusing Popeye in judge Wimpy's courtroom. Bluto tells a sad tale of how Popeye attacked him without provocation, but Popeye tells his side, in detail.

Popeye has just finished his house when a band of termites attacks. He traps them in a metal garbage can, but they soon escape and launch a new attack, consuming his picket fence. He comes after them with a garden roller; they run over a bridge, then double back and eat the bridge. Popeye still manages to beat them to the house, where he builds a moat and fills it with water. They are briefly thwarted, then use a can as a boat. They enter the house and start attacking furniture, then the house itself. Their job complete and bellies full, they rest long enough for Popeye to eat his spinach and rebuild his house in steel.

An evening-gowned Olive Oyl is watching a show on TV featuring a classy French gent called the International, who delivers romantic monologues to his female audience. Olive is so caught up in the romance and enchantment of this fancy fellow that she forgets all about her date with Popeye, which annoys The Sailorman no end. When The International announces that some lucky eligible maiden may have a date to meet him in person, Olive is delighted and Popeye is disgusted. --- Good evening, dear ladies. I am The International. Come a little closer, and I will make the great love for you. Ah, your eyes are like the limped pools sparkling in the sunshine. And your lips, they are so red like the ruby - the flowers that bloom in the spring do not compare with your exquisite beauty. But Olive! Shoosh, Popeye. Don't interrupt The International. But, but, Olive. What about our date? You and me is supposed to go to the movies. Why, that rub, Popeye got here ahead of me. And now I have a surprise for your lovely ladies. Popeye and Bluto both plan to marry Olive Oyl, but Popeye proposes first. When Olive says, "Yes!" to Popeye, Bluto sets out to make Popeye look bad, break up the wedding, and win Olive over.

Bluto muscles out Popeye to take Olive to the fair. Popeye rushes ahead and poses as a fortune teller, luring Olive in. He shows Olive her future (actually, her past) in the crystal ball: first, a clip of a mountain climbing sequence that culminates in Bluto assaulting Olive. Then, a clip from another amusement park showing strongman Bluto stealing Olive away to a roller-coaster while Popeye rings a strength-testing bell repeatedly. Olive, having seen this, no longer wants anything to do with Bluto and walks out. Bluto exposes Popeye and chases Olive into a Tunnel of Love; Popeye follows and trashes Bluto.

Popeye is celebrating the Fourth of July by arranging a patriotic garden, while his nephews (although only two are present in this short) would only want to play with fireworks. However, Popeye takes the fireworks away and locks them in a shed, opting for safer activities. The boys try to trick him into playing baseball so they can send the ball (and him) away, then use a hornet's nest against him, to no avail. When he gets into his car for a ride, his nephews tie a rope between it and the shed, sending its wreckage to crash into the car. The two boys are finally able to light their fireworks, but this causes various accidents to happen to Popeye, and them to be thrust up into the sky. By eating his spinach, Popeye gains the ability to fly by pipe propulsion. Saved just before the rocket that is hauling them up explodes, the kids finally settle for the safer yet still noisy game of bursting balloons. --- ---

Spooky Swabs is a Popeye theatrical cartoon short, starring Jack Mercer as Popeye and Mae Questel as Olive Oyl. Produced by Paramount Cartoon Studios (formerly Famous Studios) and directed by Isadore Sparber, it was released in 1957 and is the final cartoon in the Popeye series of theatrical cartoons released by Paramount Pictures. The cartoon opens with Popeye and Olive Oyl out at sea on a life raft playing checkers. Popeye suddenly spies an old sailing ship on the horizon, which also thrills Olive who cannot wait to go home and watch television again. Popeye then twirls his pipe around and, using it like an outboard motor, propels the raft towards the ship. The raft hits the ship and breaks apart, catapulting Popeye and Olive aboard. The camera then pulls over to the ship's figurehead, which also reveals the ship is called "Sea Witch," which has been adrift at sea since 1678. Unbeknownst to the couple, as they search the ship for the crew, the ship does have a crew, but of ghosts with Englishaccents (voiced by Mercer). Upon hearing voices outside their quarters, the ghosts wake up and spot the boarders. Despite concluding that the ship is deserted, Popeye determines that the ship is still seaworthy enough to return to land. Having heard this, the ghosts become alarmed at the thought of returning to human civilization, as they like the peace and quiet of being adrift at sea and don't like civilization. The captain of the ghost crew agrees that they must get rid of the boarders in order to keep their peaceful life at sea intact. Soon afterwards, as Popeye starts to sail the ship in the direction towards land, two ghosts appear behind Olive (resting in the anchor rope) and toss the anchor overboard (to stop the ship in place), which unravels the rope and sends Olive flying and spinning. Olive then flies towards Popeye and, with her spinning legs, knocks him through the ship's wheel, much to the amusement of the ghosts. Olive manages to pull the wheel off Popeye, but only succeeds in getting stuck in the wheel herself, generating more laughter from the ghosts. Later, while Olive repairs the wheel, Popeye starts pulling up the anchor, which gets the ship moving again, but one ghost paints grease on the last few yards of the rope and another ghost tangles some of the anchor rope around Popeye's leg. As soon as the anchor is almost aboard, the greased part of the rope slips through Popeye's hands and the anchor stops the ship again and pulls Popeye overboard into the water. While Popeye struggles underwater trying to free himself from the rope, Olive tries to pull the anchor back up, but isn't strong enough. The ghosts (now invisible) take the opportunity to blindfold Olive and force her to the plank. Back underwater, Popeye manages to grab a swordfish and use its snout to cut the rope, allowing him to swim back to the surface and back on to the ship, which has now started moving again. At this point, the ghosts (still invisible and holding a sword) force Olive to walk the length of the plank while Olive cries out for Popeye. The sword disappears just as Popeye sees Olive almost about to walk off the edge of the plank. He picks it up and redirects it so that Olive ends up landing face first into a bucket of water. Olive cries out that she's drowning, but Popeye reassures her she's all right and goes to steer the ship. Just as soon as Olive spits out some water, she suddenly feels herself being carried along the deck. The moment Olive begins to state her suspicions about the ship, two ghosts (carrying her) appear, holding her by her arms. Olive then freaks out and manages to escape the ghosts' grip, running past Popeye while screaming "Ghosts!," and immediately dives overboard, but Popeye catches her just in time and pulls her back aboard. Popeye tries to assure her that ghosts aren't real, but a ghost cuts loose a sail above them and the sail falls onto Popeye. Seeing Popeye covered by the sail, Olive shriek
