Heart of Darkness is a novella written by Joseph Conrad. Before its 1902 publication, it appeared as a three-part series (1899) in Blackwood's Magazine. It is widely regarded as a significant work of English literature and part of the Western canon. The story details an incident when Marlow, an Englishman, took a foreign assignment as a ferry-boat captain, employed by a Belgian trading company. Although the river is never specifically named, readers may assume it is the Congo River, in the Congo Free State, a private colony of King Leopold II. Marlow is employed to transport ivory downriver; however, his more pressing assignment is to return Kurtz, another ivory trader, to civilization in a cover up. Kurtz has a reputation throughout the region.

After winning back the Plymouth Valiant he drove as a kid, Debra is stuck driving it. She is angry because she believes Ray's parents conned them--but she is more angry when she discovers Ray only insists on keeping it because it was the car where he first got "lucky" in.

Walt and Jesse have yet another problem to deal with when one of their dealers, Jesse's friend Badger, is arrested by the Albuquerque police. They end up hiring a shady lawyer, Saul Goodman, who has a unique way of ensuring that Badger gets off with a light sentence without having to give away Jesse or Walt's identity. As Walt learns however, it may come at a very high price. Walt's brother-in-law Hank, the DEA Agent, is suffering from post-traumatic stress following the shooting in Juarez. He puts on a brave face but is having trouble just getting out of bed in the morning. Walt has some suggestions for him.

When Ted leaves the bar early to prepare a Thanksgiving feast for his friends, the gang winds up partying all night with The Blitz, an old friend from college who has bad luck. As a result Ted is forced to spend Thanksgiving with Zoey.

During a night out, Vince hooks up with porn star Sasha Grey and takes her to a meeting with Stan Lee. Ari tries to woo Jessica Simpson, Aaron Sorkin and Mike Tyson in an attempt to stop Lizzie from stealing his clients, as well as to find out who she's working for. While he has some success, he is shocked to learn who Lizzie's new boss is. Turtle pitches Eric about Vince becoming the face of his new venture. Drama gets angry when he learns that Bob Saget wants his role alongside John Stamos, but Drama is focusing his anger on the wrong person.

Dean Pelton is asked by the school board to film a new commercial for Greendale; Abed films all the activities for a documentary. Luis Guzman guest stars as himself.

The Barones go out to eat with Debra's parents, who seem to be the total opposite to Ray's parents.

In the Season 5 premiere, a few years have passed and Hank is living in New York but looking for a ticket out of town after his latest breakup. He accepts an invitation from Charlie to come to Los Angeles for a job writing a film starring rapper/actor Samurai Apolcaypse, then reunites with Karen, her former professor and now-husband Richard, and his daughter Becca, who now has a boyfriend named Tyler that is the spitting image of Hank himself ... in the worst possible way.

Billy submits Medellin to Cannes Film Festival but Eric thinks it still needs major editing. Vince gets in over his head while hanging at a Malibu beach house. Drama rekindles a romance with a '90s party girl, and brings Turtle along as his wingman.

Ted and Barney go out in the town to celebrate St. Patrick's Day as if there is no tomorrow, where Ted is seemingly rewarded for every bad behavior. Meanwhile, Lily and Marshall discover a major flaw with their new apartment, the floor is slanted. Robin helps them invent "roller luge". Ted finds a yellow umbrella that may be "Mother's".

Hurley finds that some of Rousseau's documents contain the repeated numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42, the same numbers which Hurley had used to win a lottery jackpot. Hurley sets off on his own and finds Rousseau, who says that she does not know what the numbers mean: only that her party had originally been drawn to the island by a radio transmission that was broadcasting the numbers. The numbers are also revealed to be engraved on the side of the hatch. In flashbacks, Hurley wins the lottery, and over the coming weeks, everyone around him suffers increasingly bad luck. He then discovers that the man who'd given him the numbers originally got them from the same transmission.

Eric and Vince are determined to get Medellin off the ground, but the rights to the script stand in their way. Feeling tense the day of the Five Towns TV-series premiere, Drama seeks relief at a massage parlor, but can't avoid unflattering comments about him in the trade magazine Variety. At an auto-body shop, Turtle meets a girl who shares his love for limited-edition sneakers, but her overbearing father hampers his game.

Eric, Ari, and Bob pitch the Ramones film project to the studios. which causes a power struggle between Ari and Bob. Turtle wants a pair of limited-edition shoes which Vince tries to buy for him. Drama begins filming his pilot.
