"Born to Be Wild" is a song first performed by the band Steppenwolf, written by Mars Bonfire. The song is often invoked in both popular and counter culture to denote a biker appearance or attitude. It is sometimes described as the first heavy metal song, and the second verse lyric "heavy metal thunder" marks the first use of this term in rock music (although not as a description of a musical style). Men play pool, arm wrestle, head butt each other, fight, hold up lighters, but then a biker bursts through the door telling everyone that someone has blocked in their motorcycles. Everyone goes outside to cause trouble for whoever blocked them in with their Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster, but it turns out to be Peter Fonda himself. On the day of a record signing for Saigon, Drama and Turtle make an attempt to find him when he fails to arrive. Ari dumps an old-school producer on Eric who may have Vince's next project. Meanwhile, Vince coincidentally runs into a woman at a bookstore and learns he was on her celebrity "list".

With scrutiny of a 30-year old case involving a dead parachutist increasing, prisoner Arlo Givens, Raylan's father, decides to disclose the location of Drew Thompson for a full pardon. Raylan doesn't want this to happen, so he intensifies his search for Drew Thompson so that his father's information is no longer valuable, thereby removing his father's play to get out of jail. Detroit mobsters also want to find Drew Thompson for assorted reasons. First, Drew Thompson's former wife said Thompson witnessed head gangster Tonin kill a federal witness. Second, a Tonin henchman says Thompson previously shot Tonin in the eye. Last, the drugs displayed in the first scene of the current season apparently disappeared. The Detroit criminals enlist Wynn Duffy, a member of a southern criminal organization, to help find Thompson. Duffy gets the help of Harlan County criminal boss Boyd Crowder to find Thompson. Raylan finds the girl that broke into Arlo's house earlier to find out who put her up to the job. She points Raylan in the direction of her stepfather, Josiah Cairn (Gerald McRaney). Cairn tells Raylan that Drew Thompson is with the hill people. Raylan goes to the hills, but is set up to get killed by the hill people because Cairn called them and told them to kill Raylan. After Raylan manages to escape, he returns to Cairn's house at night. Instead of finding Cairn, Raylan finds Cairn's severed foot.

Phyllis has asked Michael to push her father's wheelchair down the aisle at her wedding, a role that she gave him to secure six weeks off for her honeymoon. Pam is upset that many details of Phyllis's wedding, from the invitations to the wedding gown, were copied from her cancelled wedding. During the procession, Michael becomes petulant when Phyllis's father "upstages" him by walking under his own power. Goaded by Jim, Dwight hunts down wedding crashers. He ousts Phyllis's Uncle Al, who fails to pass Dwight's questioning due to dementia. Michael makes several attempts to recapture the limelight, including an embarrassing toast at the wedding banquet, which gets him kicked out of the reception hall by Phyllis's husband Bob Vance. Dwight doesn't let him re-enter, and Michael must sit outside listening to Uncle Al's ramblings. Pam stares as Jim and Karen dance together, and when Jim catches her eye, his face turns to sadness as she walks away. Roy pays the band (the Kevin-led "Scrantonicity") $20 to play his and Pam's song ("You Were Meant For Me"). The two dance and leave together to Jim's obvious dismay. When Phyllis leaves the reception hall with Bob Vance, she thanks Michael for finding her Uncle Al, and the newlyweds ride off in a Vance Refrigeration van.

Doug's friend Richie takes him for a ride on his motorcycle, and now Doug wants one of his own. Carrie immediately vetos the idea, but Doug goes against her wishes and buys a motorcycle anyway. When Carrie finds out, she is furious and wants him to get rid of it. When he refuses, she starts smoking again, saying that she will give up the cigarettes when Doug gives up the bike. When Doug finally sells the bike Carrie feels so guilty about making him give up something that he loved, that she buys it back for him. Much to the disappointment of Doug, who never actually enjoyed having the motorcycle.

Tina, Gene and Louise are ready to put the pedal to the metal when they join a go-kart league. Meanwhile, at the restaurant Bob and Teddy partner up to serve Teddy's home-brewed beer.
