Roman Holiday

Carrie wants to invite her old friend, Susie, to Thanksgiving dinner. The problem is, Susie's husband Mike is painfully boring. Doug can't stand the thought of spending a four-day weekend with him. Meanwhile, Spence brings up the idea that it may be time for him to move out of his mother's apartment, and Doug quickly forms a plan. He convinces Spence to move out of mom's house, and move in to his house - just for a few days until he finds a place of his own. Doug delays Spence's apartment search long enough to make sure he will still be in the house over the Thanksgiving weekend, meaning there won't be room for Carrie's friend and her dull husband to stay.

When Blair's father, Harold, comes home for the holidays with an unexpected guest -- his boyfriend, Roman -- Blair finds it difficult to hide her disappointment and hatches a plan to get rid of Roman for good. Jenny and Vanessa help Serena plan the best Christmas surprise ever for Dan, who may have a surprise of his own in mind for Serena. Chuck texts Blair that Nate has joined him in Monaco, worrying Blair that Chuck may disclose the details of their hook-up. Rufus refuses to remain the understanding husband any longer after Alison's former lover calls the house. The title of this episode comes from the 1953 film "Roman Holiday".
