Trevor Noah's unlikely path from apartheid South Africa to the desk of The Daily Show began with a criminal act: his birth. The stories collected here are by turns hilarious, dramatic, and deeply affecting. Whether subsisting on caterpillars for dinner during hard times, being thrown from a moving car during an attempted kidnapping, or just trying to survive the life-and-death pitfalls of dating in high school, Trevor illuminates his curious world with an incisive wit and unflinching honesty. His stories weave together to form a moving and searingly funny portrait of a boy making his way through a damaged world in a dangerous time, armed only with a keen sense of humor and a mother's unconventional, unconditional love.

Movie production starts for Sam's movie, Santa Monica Cop, but Hank jeopardizes his friendship with Sam by having a rendezvous with the lead actress. Charlie continues his relationship with Lizzie and attempts to sign Tyler to his talent group. Hank gets released from Sam's movie and has a blowup with Charlie; he fires Charlie as his agent and as his friend.

Stella responds yes to Ted's proposal, but Ted realizes he and Stella know very little about each other. After accidentally sending Stella to the hospital (because of her peanut allergy), Ted makes her watch Star Wars to determine if they are compatible. Barney realizes he's in love with Robin. Lily sets him up on a date with Robin, but he continues his womanizing ways.

The president's staff prepares for her state visit with the Israeli prime minister. Mike tries out a new look for his more visible role. Teddy does Jonah a favor, while continuing to invade his personal space. Dan and Jonah are participating in Family First talks. Stuck in traffic with Richard, Amy learns via FaceTime that Selina is bringing in Bill Ericsson. Gary goes overboard while planning the state dinner for the Israeli delegation, and a painting in the White House comes under the spotlight. Mike changes his appearance; Kent helps Catherine with her likeability. Richard becomes Jonah's assistant.

Threatened by a sneaky West Coast NBC executive, Jack enlists Kenneth to help thwart any attempts to usurp Donaghy's TV throne. Meanwhile, Tracy discovers that he is a direct descendant of Thomas Jefferson and Liz fakes being an alcoholic to get closer to her crush.

Peter's devoutly religious, recently retired father Francis comes to visit, though he is intolerant of the others and makes life miserable for them; nevertheless, Peter tries to bond with him, since he had always been neglectful of his son. When all else fails, Peter resorts to kidnapping the Pope by taking the place of his regular driver to settle their conflict. He then brings the Pope back to his house, where His Holiness attempts to mediate his problems. Afterwards, Peter reconciles with Francis, who is hired for the job of working as the Pope's security guard during his tour of the United States, pushing down people who are not allowed to be near the Pope and those who are allowed to be near the Pope, but are in his way, including Fox personnel, much to the Pope's dismay. At the end of the episode, Peter's mom shows up at the door and wishes to live with the family, prompting them to flee the house in an escape pod.

Atticus, now staying with Charlie after being kicked out by his wife, decides to throw a party there even though he is only a guest. Girls for the party are supplied by Faith, The Dealer (Jorge Garcia) returns to provide the recreational substances, and Hank's old friend Eddie Nero (Rob Lowe) provides the entertainment. Hank gets jealous when Karen attracts the attention of Eddie after she sees something going on between Hank and Faith. Atticus, newly single, turns his attention to "a fan" of his at the party. Charlie ends up reuniting with the dead rock star's widow. Faith's feelings for Hank start to go beyond her control.

Lily and Marshall contemplate having a baby, so Lily turns to Ted and Robin and gets completely different advice on the issue. After Lily becomes extremely drunk and interferes at Marshall's workplace, they decide to put off having a baby. Robin becomes Ted's new roommate. Barney has a pregnancy scare and when it's disproved, he creates a new holiday: Not a Father's Day.

The episode focuses on Liz Lemon's escapade with her idol, Rosemary Howard; Tracy Jordan's family problems; and Jenna Maroney's attempt to replace Kenneth Parcell's burnt page jacket.

When Barney overhears that Ted and Robin have a secret at the wedding reception, he begins to speculate about what it might be.

The detectives' investigation crosses paths with a federal one; leaks of crime-scene photos to the press baffle both the police and the Larsens; and partial histories of both Holder and Richmond are revealed.

As the day of the wedding begins, Robin and Ted reminisce about past relationships while out searching for an inebriated Barney. Meanwhile, Marshall and Lily come to a resolution about their differences, and Barney befriends two young guys eager to meet women.

Roy attacks Jim for kissing Pam, but is subdued by Dwight with pepper spray. Roy is fired, and Jim, feeling guilty about all of the pranks over the years, tries to show his appreciation to Dwight for saving his skin, but each gesture is coolly rejected. Darryl asks for a 10% raise. When he discovers that the raise would make him higher-paid than Michael, Darryl goads Michael into going to Corporate to negotiate his own raise. Jan initially tries to keep their romantic relationship out of the negotiations, but ultimately gives Michael the maximum 12% raise that was authorized, despite his continued inability to properly negotiate. Kevin asks Karen how she feels about Jim being attacked over someone else, and she responds coolly. Pam tells Jim she's sorry that Roy attacked him, but her assurance that her relationship with Roy is over for good is met with polite skepticism. Roy picks up his last paycheck also apologizing to Jim about the whole violent incident and asks Pam to join him for coffee. Their meeting at a local diner is awkward and ends with their relationship (and even friendship) appearing to be over. Roy does not understand his long-time fiancee, especially her choice to not pursue Jim. Angela interviews people from the office to repeatedly hear the tale of Dwight's heroics. Believing themselves to be alone at the end of the day, the two kiss passionately. Jim sees them, and decides that keeping their relationship secret will be his gift to Dwight to make things "even." Andy returns from anger management, and Dwight, unprovoked, subdues him with pepper spray. Toby confiscates the rest of Dwight's arsenal.

Ted, Marshall and Barney watch the original Star Wars trilogy and suddenly think about their lives three years into the future.

On January 8, Tom Hansen meets Summer Finn, the new assistant to his boss. Tom trained as an architect but works as a writer at a greeting card company, living in Los Angeles. Following a karaoke night, Tom's co-worker, McKenzie, lets slip that Tom is attracted to Summer. Over the next few months Summer and Tom grow closer, despite Summer making it clear to Tom that she does not believe in true love, and does not want a boyfriend.

The film follows high school senior Ferris Bueller from the North Shore, who, one spring day (after eight previous absences throughout the semester; nine total including this "day off"), decides to skip school again and spend the day in downtown Chicago with his girlfriend Sloane Peterson and his best friend Cameron Frye while creatively avoiding his school's dean of students Mr. Edward Rooney, his resentful sister Jeanie, and his parents. Bueller frequently breaks the fourth wall to explain to the audience his techniques and thoughts. In the opening scene, graphics appear onscreen illustrating his explanations.

New York City Detective Allen Gamble is a forensic accountant who is more interested in paperwork than fieldwork. Detective Terry Hoitz has been stuck working with Gamble since an embarrassing shooting.
