Nucky is paid a visit by straight-arrow Agent Nelson Van Alden, who feels that Nucky has pinned a crime on a scapegoat. After using his recent windfall to buy presents for his wife Angela and mother Gillian, Jimmy is forced to pay Nucky a larger sum of money. Margaret is visited by both Van Alden and Nucky's brother, Sheriff Elias Thompson, each seeking a different side of her story as to the death of her husband. After the funeral of James "Big Jim" Colosimo, Chicago gangster Al Capone has a violent encounter with an inquisitive reporter. Nucky contemplates the upcoming election with his aging mentor, Louis "the Commodore" Kaestner.

In flashbacks, Desmond is shipwrecked on the island and subsequently lives in the hatch with a man named Kelvin, whom he later accidentally kills. Meanwhile, Michael leads Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley to the Others. Henry, the apparent leader of the Others, releases Hurley, takes Jack, Kate, and Sawyer as prisoners, and allows Michael and Walt to leave the island on a boat. Desmond returns and realizes that he caused the crash of Flight 815 when he entered the numbers into the computer too late. Locke stops entering the numbers and traps himself, Mr. Eko, Charlie and Desmond inside the hatch, which implodes. In the epilogue, scientists working for Penelope Widmore locate the island.

Jack and Locke discover that the hatch is a 1970's station built to control an electromagnetic anomaly on the island and learn that it was built by the Dharma Initiative, a scientific research team. Michael, Sawyer, and Jin find out that they are being held captive by the passengers of Flight 815's tail section, who have apparently survived. Flashbacks show Locke struggling with father issues and his relationship with Helen, who helps him let go of the issues with his father.

Glynn meets the press about the solitary poisonings. Said attempts to start a bookbinding business and meets with a reporter with a surprise up his sleeve.

The Others is a 2001 psychological horror film based in part on Henry James' classic, The Turn of the Screw.

This novel was written by one of the plane crash survivors (but not for long) on Lost. There is, however, a canonical release of the book in real life.

n unnamed narrator listens to a male friend reading a manuscript written by a former governess whom the latter claims to have known and who is now dead. The manuscript tells the story of how the young governess is hired by a man who has found himself responsible for his niece and nephew after the death of their parents. He lives in London and has no interest whatsoever in the children. The boy is attending a boarding school whilst his sister, Flora, is living at the country home in Essex where she is cared for by the housekeeper, Mrs. Grose. He gives the governess full charge of the children and makes it clear he never wants to hear from her again. The governess travels to her new employer's country house and begins her duties. Shortly thereafter, the boy, Miles, having been expelled from his school, turns up at the house. The governess infers that the headmaster feels that Miles is a threat to the other boys. The governess begins to see the figures of a man and woman whom she does not recognize, and does not believe can really be present, around the property. She learns that her predecessor, a Miss Jessel, and her lover Peter Quint (another former servant of the household), a clever but abusive man, died under curious circumstances. Gradually, she becomes convinced that the pair are somehow manipulating the children, perhaps using them to continue their relationship from beyond the grave. The governess takes action against the perceived threat, eventually culminating in the apparent death of Miles.
