In a flashback to Cicero, Illinois, Jimmy says goodbye to his friend and con artist partner Marco, telling him that he is moving to Albuquerque. In the present, Jimmy meets with Howard Hamlin to receive his $20,000 "of counsel" fee, and to discuss arrangements for delivering groceries and supplies to Chuck. After having a breakdown while calling Bingo at the retirement home, Jimmy then returns to Cicero where he catches up with Marco at their usual bar. They run a rare coin scam on an out-of-town businessman with a Kennedy half dollar. Over the next week, they run several successful scams. One morning, Jimmy explains to Marco that he is now an elder law attorney and must return to Albuquerque. Marco insists on one last fake Rolex scam for kicks but succumbs to a heart attack during the con. A grieving Jimmy, now wearing Marco's pinky ring, receives a phone call from Kim. A large Santa Fe firm, Davis & Mane, is assisting with the class action suit and considering Jimmy for partner. Jimmy returns to Albuquerque, but backs out of the Davis & Mane meeting. He asks Mike why they gave back the embezzled $1.6 million, then proclaims that whatever stopped him from taking it "is never stopping [him] again." Jimmy drives away, smiling and humming "Smoke on the Water", the same song Marco hummed whenever they pulled off the Rolex scam.

Stan tells Don he is offering to relocate to California to support Sunkist and build a west coast presence for the agency "one desk at a time." The agency receives an RFP from Hershey's Chocolate and Jim assigns Don to make a pitch. Don tells Megan he wants to move to California after spending a night in jail and suggests she could pursue her acting career there. Pete receives a telegram saying that his mother has fallen from a cruise ship and is lost at sea, and later finds out she married nanny Manolo, whom Pete blames for pushing her off. Ted comes to Peggy's apartment and says that he wants to leave his wife and be with her. Ted later reconsiders and decides he wants to move to California with his family, ostensibly to manage Sunkist but also to distance himself from his feelings for Peggy. Ted asks Don to approve the arrangement but is rejected. Don then makes a brilliant pitch to Hershey executives, but as they prepare to leave, Don reveals his real childhood to the room and tells Hershey's they don't need an ad campaign. He then decides to give Ted the Sunkist account. Ted informs Peggy and Don informs Megan of the Sunkist news, which infuriates both women. The partners have a meeting in the morning of Thanksgiving and tell Don that his unpredictable behavior has forced them to insist that he take a mandatory leave of absence of at least a few months, with Peggy filling in for Don due to Ted's impending move to Los Angeles. Pete visits Trudy on Thanksgiving before catching a flight to Los Angeles, where he is moving. Joan invites Roger over for Thanksgiving dinner, but to be in Kevin's life and not hers. Following the partner's meeting, Don picks up his children and shows them the now-dilapidated brothel he grew up in.

Bart visits several of his previous girlfriends (Gina the juvenile delinquent from "The Wandering Juvie", Darcy the pregnant teen from "Little Big Girl", Jenny the nursing home volunteer from "The Good, the Sad and the Drugly" and Nikki the new girl who flip-flopped between loving and hating Bart from "Stealing First Base") to find out why his relationships with them never lasted, until Bart realizes that there was one girl who did love him: Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel's daughter Mary from "Apocalypse Cow", who is now living in New York, so Bart resolves to track her down.

A wildlife photographer Anna Maria 'Dallas' D'Allesandro arrives to take photos of the captures for the zoo which will be buying the bulk of that season's captures. She is at first mistaken for a man because of the introduction letter she'd signed with only her initials. Due to the complexity of her name, she is nicknamed 'Dallas'. During her stay she becomes known as Mama Tembo (Mother of Elephants) for her efforts to save three baby elephants, culminating in a chase through the streets of Arusha in Tanzania. She also develops a crush on Mercer. There are romantic subplots between the other characters as well.

"Steamroller" This commercial shows a steamroller riding through an open white area. It drives over a laptop computer, and then we see a huge line of PC laptops that it is running over and flattening. At the end, we see that this is a video running on a Macintosh PowerBook G3 which is twice as fast as the Pentium based computers. There's a time and a place for subtlety.
