The film takes place within a post-apocalyptic America, two months after a zombie apocalypse has been triggered when mad cow disease became "mad person disease" which became "mad zombie disease."

The plot chronicles the romantic misadventures of several individuals in their twenties and thirties. The common thread is that one person in each relationship is more "into" the other person than vice versa. At the core of these multiple stories is Gigi, a young woman who repeatedly misinterprets the signs that men give her about their level of interest in her. The more experienced and romantically successful Alex, the manager of a bar, advises her on how to understand men.

Luke helps Taylor Doose renovate an old house into a museum. Rory, Paris, and Lane become intoxicated at the opening of the house and speak their minds on their love lives. Lorelai forgets to keep some news off the record when she is interviewed by a magazine about the success of the Dragonfly Inn.

Miranda asks Carrie's boyfriend, Jack Berger, to analyze the post-date behavior of a potential love interest. Because the man declined Miranda's invitation to come up to her apartment after the date, stating that he has an early meeting, Berger concludes, "he's just not that into you," adding, "When a guy's really into you, he's coming upstairs, meeting or no meeting". After hearing this information, Miranda feels compelled to spread the knowledge to others. Charlotte cooks her first Shabbat dinner for Harry. Samantha and Jerry act out all their sexual fantasies.
