The Black Cauldron (also known as Taran and the Magic Cauldron in some countries) is the twenty-fifth animated feature in the Disney animated features. On the small farm of Caer Dallben, Taran, is an Assistant Pigkeeper to the enchanter Dallben, with dreams of becoming a great warrior. However, he has to put the daydreaming aside when his charge, an oracular pig named Hen Wen, is kidnapped by an evil lord known as the Horned King. The villain hopes Hen will show him the way to The Black Cauldron, which has the power to create a giant army of unstoppable warriors from the dead, (known as "The Cauldron Born"). With the aid of the stubborn-yet-lovable Princess Eilonwy, an exaggerating middle-aged bard named Fflewddur Fflam, and a pestering but ultimately loyal creature called Gurgi, Taran tries to save the world of Prydain from the Horned King. As the new friends face witches, elves, magic swords, and the Cauldron itself, Taran starts to learn what being a hero really means and that some things are more important than glory.

As a toxic cloud of smog hangs over New York City during Thanksgiving 1966, Betty's bitterness over her weight gain and Megan's youth and beauty leads her to tell Sally about Anna Draper in an attempt to cause turmoil between Sally, Don, and Megan. Don and Peggy are both irritated by Michael Ginsberg's rising star, and Don takes a devious approach to clip the wings of the young copywriter. Roger gets handed a new client (Manischewitz) by Bert Cooper, but Roger's decision that he needs more Jewish input to help him involves estranged wife Jane, with unfortunate results. Pete continues to resent that his brief affair with commuter-acquaintance Howard's wife, Beth, has ended.

Taran Wanderer is the fourth book in the Chronicles of Prydain series by Lloyd Alexander. It tells of Taran's search for his lineage through which he encounters many different people who each help to shape Taran as he learns about who he truly is. It is the only book in the series in which Princess Eilonwy does not appear, though she is referenced frequently. It is also the only book in the series in which Prince Gwydion does not appear.

The Black Cauldron is the second book in Lloyd Alexander's five-part novel series The Chronicles of Prydain (first published in 1964). The story centers on the adventures of Taran, an Assistant Pig-Keeper in the magical land of Prydain, as he joins in a quest to capture the eponymous vessel, a magical device which can be used to create armies of the undead.

The Book of Three is the first of Lloyd Alexander's five-part novel series The Chronicles of Prydain. Inspired by Welsh mythology, it follows the adventures of Taran, a boy in the care of the enchanter Dallben, as he enters manhood while fighting the forces of the evil Arawn Death-Lord.

The Castle of Llyr is the third volume in the children's fantasy series Chronicles of Prydain. Taran continues his adventures and encounters new friends and old enemies. The book is mostly lighthearted although the final scenes add depth and substance to Taran's character.

The Foundling and Other Tales of Prydain is a collection of six short stories (newer copies including eight) by Lloyd Alexander. Although first published in 1973, after the five novels that comprise The Chronicles of Prydain, these short stories take place before the events of the books that preceded them.

The High King is the last book in the Chronicles of Prydain fantasy series of books by Lloyd Alexander. Taran and the Companions join the rest of Prydain in a final struggle to defeat Arawn at great cost.
