Various versions of Beyonce appear in the mirrors. Beyonce starts dancing, and the "Past Beyonces" all move exactly the same as the "Present Beyonce", but they are wearing their fashions from the corresponding time in Beyonce's history as an artist. They come out into the middle and throw their weapons and start singing the song. Soon the entire Roman Coliseum is pounding their feet and clapping their hands to the beat which causes the ice chest full of Pepsi to start to rock. It slowly inches its way to the edge and finally falls which also throws "Emperor Iglesias" into the fighting ring too as the lions are being let out. They plan to take him hostage but Pennsatucky grabs the gun from Angie's waistband. She throws the gun to Charlie and it accidentally fires, shooting Leanne in the finger. Charlie uses the weapon to escape the prison and goes outside, where a CERT greets him with guns drawn, and he faints. Flashback: A teenaged Watson tours an elite prep school and is mesmerized by the wealth and depth of education. She witnesses a rehearsal for the school's (all-white) production of Dreamgirls and is shocked by a white girl in an Afro wig performing "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going." Returning to her school in the Bronx, she is discouraged by the poor conditions and develops a negative attitude.

Needing direction in life, Marnie surprises Hannah in bed and asks if she can move in with her and help raise her baby. Hannah agrees. Five months later, Hannah has given birth, and named her baby "Grover" (which was Paul-Louis's preferred name). She is struggling with motherhood, getting stressed that Grover will not breastfeed, and her relationship with Marnie is fractious. Eventually, Marnie calls Loreen for help. This only enrages Hannah further and after a particularly angry fight, she storms off, leaving Grover in Loreen and Marnie's care. While she's gone, Loreen advises Marnie that she should not put her love for Hannah above her own happiness, as she herself had lost her own "best friend," (Tad) by making the same mistake. Hannah, meanwhile, encounters a visibly destressed teenage girl running from a house in a state of undress. Thinking she was running away from a rapist, Hannah offers her support and her trousers. Upon discovering the girl is actually just a bratty teen running away from home because her mother ordered her to do her homework, Hannah angrily berates her, in turn coming to her own understanding about motherhood. The girl runs off, leaving Hannah to walk home pantsless, although a concerned police officer insists on escorting her there. She arrives to find Loreen and Marnie sitting on the porch, Grover asleep upstairs. They make space for her, and give her a glass of wine, the three finally at peace for the night. Grover's crying emerges on the baby monitor, and Hannah goes to soothe him. When she tries breastfeeding him once more, he finally latches, to her relief.

Ward escapes the hospital and goes to the penthouse, holding a gun and demanding Harold to let him take Joy. Bakuto and his operatives arrive, with the former calling Rand, shooting Joy and giving him half an hour to arrive at the penthouse in order to save the trio. Against Davos's objections, Rand decides to go, arriving just before Bakuto can decapitate Harold, the only way to kill him for good. The Hand locks Rand and takes him to the lobby, where Rand uses the Fist to free himself just as Davos and Wing attack the Hand, with Rand overpowering Bakuto, who escapes outside before he is cornered by the trio. Wing engages and overpowers him, refusing to kill him, which Davos does after Rand's refusal. The latter engages Davos and overpowers him, stating that he wishes to be both Rand and the Iron Fist. Davos departs and the pair finds Bakuto's body gone. Harold and Ward take Joy to a hospital. Rand and Wing return to the dojo. The next day, Ward texts Rand, alerting him that Harold has framed them of bearing drugs. The dojo is attacked by DEA agents, whom the pair defeats and escapes.

This leads to a break down in their friendship, but they end up reconciling in time for Christine to be the maid of honor at Barb and Richard's wedding. Also, the meanie moms offer Matthew a lot of money for therapy but it turns out they don't really want therapy, they just want Matthew to compliment them.

Kurt joins the football team and admits his homosexuality to his father, Burt, who accepts him for who he is. Quinn discovers she is pregnant and tells Finn the baby is his, when in fact the father is his best friend, Puck. Finn asks Will to teach the football team to dance, hoping to improve their performance and thus his chance of receiving a football scholarship. Puck, Mike Chang, and Matt Rutherford all join the glee club after the football team's win dancing to "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)". This makes them a group of twelve and eligible to compete, but Sue and former glee club director Sandy Ryerson team up in an effort to bring the club down, luring away a disillusioned Rachel, who quits when Will awards a solo she wanted to Tina.

Inspired by a conversation with Kelly's parents about Hindu marriage customs, Michael publicly proposes to Carol. Uncomfortable, Carol declines his offer and leaves the room. She later explains that this is only their ninth date, and drives home, leaving Michael to find a ride. Pam sends a text message to Jim, who does not answer because he is passed out on his desk. At the end of the evening, Michael mistakenly thinks that he and Pam have a connection, and is rejected when he tries to kiss her. She gives him a ride home on the condition that he sit in the back seat. Jim tries to ride his bike home but is too drunk. An amused Karen gives Jim a ride.
