A turbulent and intriguing love story between two parking officers in the city of Los Angeles.

Brennan Huff (Ferrell) is a sporadically employed thirty-nine-year-old who lives with his mother, Nancy (Mary Steenburgen, Melvin and Howard). Dale Doback (Reilly) is a terminally unemployed forty-year-old who lives with his father, Robert (Richard Jenkins, Six Feet Under). When Robert and Nancy get married and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced to live with each other as stepbrothers. Their narcissism and downright aggressive laziness eventually tear the family apart--their parents eventually divorce due to Brennan and Dale's wild antics, specifically the destruction of Robert's sailboat while shooting a "music" video. Eventually, these two middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys begin to grow-up and work to bring their parents back together.

The two main characters are Amanda, a highly successful editor of movie trailers in Los Angeles, and Iris, a lovesick society column editor for The Daily Telegraph newspaper in England. The story is set in motion when each of them suffers a heartache: Amanda discovers that her boyfriend cheated on her, while the object of Iris's unrequited love announces his engagement at the office Christmas party. Seeking an escape, Iris proposes the home swap on the Internet, posting an ad about her quaint cottage in the English countryside. Her offer is eagerly accepted by Amanda, who lives in a luxurious home in L.A. but is stressed over her break-up. At first, the swap seems uneven; Iris revels in the luxury of Amanda's L.A. home, while Amanda suffers a series of disappointments in Surrey. Yet things turn around for Amanda when she meets Iris's brother Graham. Both Amanda and Graham intend to have a one-night stand, but a romance develops. Meanwhile, Iris befriends movie composer Miles and elderly Arthur Abbott; Arthur, it turns out, worked as a screenwriter during the Golden Age of Hollywood. The friendship between Iris and Miles turns romantic after Miles learns of his girlfriend's infidelity.

Once airborne, the sailors held an impromptu bachelor party during which a Black sailor (Gaius Charles) from Mississippi toasts the groom, producing a warm smile from Laura. After landing, Maggie invites the sailor to spend the night on a couch in the apartment she now shares with Laura. The following day, he and Laura tour New York City until his train departs for Mississippi that evening. In the train station, the sailor is the victim of a racial assault. Laura takes him back to the apartment where she tends to his wounds; the two share a passionate kiss. Kate and Niko spend the night together; afterward, Kate is upset when Niko is forceably taken away from her apartment for a CIA interview. After realizing Kate has been working to recruit him as an operative, Niko becomes angry with her, accusing her of lying to him in regard to the true nature of their relationship. At the end of the episode, Niko and Kate work out their differences in the Worldport before she boards Flight 2, a flight around-the-world.

Lilly reopens the 1964 case of a murdered seventeen-year-old girl who was killed the day after giving birth to a baby girl in a home for unwed mothers. The victim's daughter sees her as she is listening to a tape her mother had made for her.

Eko follows what appears to be his brother into the jungle. It turns out to be the smoke monster, which proceeds to kill Eko. Jack finds out that the reason he was captured was to operate on Ben's spinal tumor. Juliet conspires with Jack against Ben, telling him to kill Ben during surgery but to make it look like an accident. In flashbacks, Eko becomes a priest after Yemi is killed and Eko kills a few men to protect his town.

After getting unusually turned down at a bar, Charlie learns that a website has been made dedicated to exposing his lifestyle. Charlie sets out to find who created the site, making amends to all those he stood up, but it's harder than it looks when all the women take the apology better than expected.

Jimmy McNulty is sidelined to harbor patrol. He discovers a corpse in the harbor and pays back Colonel Rawls by proving City Homicide bear responsibility for the investigation. Major Valchek feels slighted when the boss of a local stevedore union named Frank Sobotka donates a more impressive gift to a local Polish church. Sobotka meets with other union leaders and learns that a crucial pier is still in a state of disrepair. Sobotka instructs his nephew Nick to see The Greek regarding payment for a clandestine container that he is smuggling through the port. Later, Port Police Officer "Beadie" Russell stumbles across The Greek's container and discovers the bodies of over a dozen young women inside.
