Two Hand operatives arrive at the penthouse to interrogate Harold. Rand arrives and engages them with Harold, who kills both. Harold has Ward dump the bodies in a river. Rand develops romance with Wing. He starts investigating his father's past. Gao arrives at Rand Enterprises, advising Rand to stay out of the Hand's way. She leaves, with him tailing her to an office, where she discusses business with an employee loyal to her. After Gao leaves, Rand confronts the employee and convinces her to leave the city and give him her password. Rand and Wing persuade Yang to help them fight the Hand. Joy convinces Ward to go to a vacation. In a board meeting, Rand announces his decision to close the Staten Island plant while keeping the workers on payroll. Rand, Wing and Yang's operatives attack a Hand facility, where a dying Radovan reveals that Gao has departed for Anzhou, where Rand's family was headed fifteen years ago. The board ousts Rand, Ward and Joy. Ward learns that his personal account has been depleted. He confronts Harold, who humiliates him. Ward stabs Harold several times to his death. He dumps the body in the river.

In the wake of Fisk's public revelation, Ben, Foggy, and Karen begin to think about how to uncover his past, while Matt continues to insist they go through the legal system. Matt tracks down Vanessa at her art gallery, hoping to gain insight into Fisk by speaking with her, and encounters Fisk himself. The firm's client, Elena Cardenas, is killed by a junkie hired by Fisk's men. Meanwhile, Nobu demands a promised city block from Fisk, who agrees on the condition Nobu provide him with a "specialist" in return to deal with the vigilante, which turns out to be Nobu himself. Fisk makes a public speech designed to lure the vigilante out. Enraged by Elena's death, Matt goes to an abandoned warehouse where he believes he will find Fisk. Instead, he is confronted by Nobu. Matt eventually wins, though not before Nobu manages to severely injure him. Fisk confronts the injured Matt, beating him nearly to death. Matt barely escapes, only to collapse at his home in front of Foggy.

Basil's attempt to shut down the drug trade is unsuccessful when he confesses to Sister Pete about his new addiction. After Beecher discovers that it was the Schillingers who kidnapped his children, he tries to once again forgive Keller but Keller cuts him off completely and he confesses to Mukada about his past in which Mukada says he needs to confess to the police before being absolved, Meanwhile Beecher tries to find a new love with a new cellmate. Rebadow decides who he wants to kill only for it to backfire on him. O'Reilly proves his love for Dr. Nathan by killing Patrick Keenan.

After Peter injures the Happy-Go-Lucky Toy Factory's new employee Guillermo during softball practice, he is forced by Mr. Weed to find a replacement for the upcoming softball game. Meanwhile, Lois meets the Griffin family's new neighbors, the Swansons. Peter is initially annoyed by Joe Swanson and has no interest in becoming his friend, but convinces Joe to play for the softball team once Lois mentions that he played baseball in college. Next morning at the game, Peter is surprised to learn that Joe is wheelchair-bound. Joe's experience helps the team win. Peter becomes jealous of Joe and tries to become a hero by stopping a robbery; he ends up as a hostage until Joe convinces the robbers to surrender. Peter is disappointed, but his family tells him that he is their hero.

In the main storyline, Milhone witnesses a woman shoplifting with a confederate inside Nordstrom's. She tells a nearby clerk, who alerts store security, and they capture and arrest the woman, named Audrey, before she can escape. While this is going on, Milhone follows her confederate and is almost run over by her in the parking garage. Right after her release from jail, Audrey apparently commits suicide. Shortly thereafter, Milhone runs into a former boyfriend in the police department, Cheney Phillips, who is out for the evening with a vice officer, Len Priddy (a friend of Milhone's first husband and a longtime enemy of hers), and his much-younger girlfriend, Abbey. Priddy mocks the theory that Audrey was part of a shoplifting ring, but Audrey's boyfriend hires Milhone to investigate that theory.
