Dwight is tasked with selling paper to a woman from the Scranton White Pages and Pam and the women of the office teach him how to interact with women. Angela fears that her husband, Robert (Jack Coleman), is cheating on her and enlists Oscar to help her spy on him at his yoga class. Meanwhile, Andy skypes into the office from his boat and Toby (Paul Lieberstein) convinces several of the men in the office to grow mustaches for "Movember".

Everybody hates the Christmas photo card that Joel obsesses over every year. But, when Ben is left out of the card, he gets really hurt that Joel invites Casey instead, so he and Maddie devise a revenge Christmas card. Earl and the gang tried to rob a house, but the owners returned. Earl ends up stuck hiding in a kid's bedroom under the bed. When he tried to sneak out the kid mistook him for the boogeyman and has since been afraid of the dark. Earl tries to make up for this mistake, but gets accused of kidnapping the little boy.

Earl's ex-wife marries Darnell the crab man; Randy is invited but Earl is not. Doubling the insult, Joy schedules the wedding on Earl’s birthday so that all of their friends will be unable to celebrate with him. A drunken Earl crashes the party, accidentally breaking Joy’s nose, and adds “ruined Joy’s wedding” to his list. While he is trying to help her out on plans for a second, better wedding so she would forgive him, he ends up sleeping with Joy. When Crab man hears this, he is upset at first but then forgives Earl saying "Hey, you weren't mad when I did it to you".

With Catalina's advice, Earl decides to teach English as a Second language to cross "Made fun of people with accents" off his karma list. Meanwhile Ralph, an old friend and partner in crime, is released from prison; Earl tries to teach him about karma, but Ralph kidnaps Randy to try to get his hands on Earl’s lottery winnings.

Rousseau leaves the Black Rock, and Arzt explodes while handling the dynamite. They encounter the monster-a cloud of black smoke. Rousseau steals Claire's baby, whom she has named Aaron. Sayid surmises that Rousseau intends to attempt an exchange of Claire's baby, for her own child with the Others. Charlie and Sayid head toward the column of black smoke and along the way, they also encounter the drug smugglers' plane, which Sayid reveals is full of heroin; Charlie takes some. When Sayid and Charlie arrive on the beach with the black smoke, there are no other people, just a pyre and Rousseau and Aaron. She returns Aaron and tells them that she overheard the Others saying that they were going after "the boy". On the raft, the crew encounters a boat. The boat's crew turns out unfriendly and demands that they hand over Walt. Sawyer is shot - but is not killed - and Walt is taken. An explosive is thrown onto the raft, destroying it. Meanwhile, Jack, Kate, Locke, and Hurley blow open the hatch, revealing a very deep dark hole with a broken ladder. The survivors' time in the airport and boarding the plane continues to be shown through flashbacks.
