After the run-in with zombified Calvin, Nick, Madison, and Travis choose to flee to the desert and want Alicia, Liza, and Chris to follow. Alicia finds Matt ill in his disheveled house. Travis arrives and sees a bite on Matt, who convinces Alicia to go. The group returns home to gather supplies. Nick suffers heroin withdrawal, so Madison drives to her school to get him OxyContin. There she encounters Tobias scavenging food. A zombified Artie tries to bite Tobias, so Madison kills Artie and drives Tobias home. Chris' bus is trapped in a traffic jam caused by a fatal zombie shooting. He films the event and joins in a protest against that and other recent fatal police shootings, when Travis and Liza meet up with him. A riot erupts after police mortally shoot another zombie, but the three Manawas find refuge with the Salazars in their gated barbershop-home. Travis tells Madison to take the kids to the desert without him; he will catch up. Alicia witnesses her zombified neighbor, Mr. Dawson, attacking Mrs. Cruz across the street, but Madison prevents her from intervening. The group inside the barbershop remains trapped, while the riot outside intensifies.

Frank has an interesting appointment with his disability doctor, who demands a biopsy of a strange third lump in his scrotum. Kev and Veronica fake a wedding to earn a lump sum of cash from Veronica's deceased father, to be given to her on her wedding day.

Frank, heavily intoxicated from the previous night, wakes up in Canada, with no memory of how he arrived there. The kids & friends search for him, but one may be hiding something.

Cristina tries to decorate her house for a housewarming party while the hospital welcomes a new Pediatrics Attending, Dr. Phil Stark. Alex receives a verbal beatdown from Stark, and Jackson learns about something that happened to April that enrages him.

Crosby keeps Jabbar overnight while Jasmine has a dance audition; he has to take Jabbar to the emergency room when Jabbar he gets his thumb stuck in a soda can. Adam and Kristina notice that Haddie's cell phone bill is ridiculously large and seems to be concentrated to one particular number; upon further investigation (including sneaking into her room and enlisting Crosby to hack into her computer), they find that she has a boyfriend. Sarah has to have the "talk" with Drew, and rejects her father's help. Amber babysits Sydney while Julia and Joel have a date night while out they run into Racquel and her husband who are also on a date night with their daughter. Sarah continues to bond with Amber, and Adam and Kristina learn to accept their daughter's newfound independence.

Marshall's excessive Xanax use continues. He learns that Jason is going out with a girl and realizes that Kate was right that T may have been trying to protect Marshall from the "bi-curious" Jason. He visits the hospital and apologizes to his mother. Kate's sexual harassment claim falls flat. But later, she unexpectedly finds Gene at her house. He's been fired from his job and professes his intense love, and says that they should run away together. Kate slips out the back door and flees in her mom's car. Tara and Max agree to meet Tripp Johannesen, the man responsible for Tara's trauma, at the clinic under the supervision of Dr. Holden. Tripp and his wife arrive, and he says all that he can remember about that night.

Dr. Cox is named the best doctor in the area in a leading publication. Dr. Cox struggles to treat an unnervingly rude and haughty patient who is a friend of Dr. Kelso's. After struggling to conceive, Carla, who has already taken a fertility test, questions Turk's fertility. Elliot finds out J.D. doesn't like Keith.

Ruth sets ground rules for a new live-in apprentice Arthur; Brenda returns to apologize to Nate; David encounters a face from his past.

Ben begins treatment for leukemia, but Dr. Cox has a hard time being supportive because he cares about Ben too much. Turk's ego takes a hit from the attending surgeon Dr. Wen, and Carla and Elliot scorch Dr. Kelso in a personal review. J.D. is very spooked to discover that the janitor knows far too much about him.

Nate gets a shocking surprise from Lisa; Keith checks up on Karla; Nikolai continues to recuperate at the Fisher's. Claire is asked to help Billy with a project.

The second film opens with Prince Charming on a quest to rescue Princess Fiona from the Dragon. When he gets there he finds the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs in Fiona’s bed. He asks where Fiona is and the wolf tells him she is on her honeymoon with Shrek. Once Shrek and Fiona return from their honeymoon, they find Donkey in the swamp who tells them he and Dragon are going through a rough patch. They then get invited to the land of Far Far Away by Fiona’s parents who want to bless their marriage. When they arrive Shrek and Fiona aren’t what they expected. The evil Prince Charming and his mother, the Fairy Godmother, are trying to break up Shrek’s marriage by making Fiona fall in love with Prince Charming. However it doesn’t work and Shrek and Fiona stay together. Shrek and Donkey get a new sidekick called Puss in Boots. They have a lengthy quest to search the Fairy Godmother's cottage to get a love potion. At the end of the movie, King Harold turns into a frog.
