The Odd Couple

Felix and Oscar are two divorced men. Felix is a neat freak while Oscar is sloppy and casual. They share the same apartment, and their different lifestyles inevitably lead to some conflicts and laughs.

Felix Unger and Oscar Madison meet at college, and fate puts them together as roommates: while Felix is extremely neurotic and fussy in contrast to the slovenly and easy-going Oscar, they both become friends quickly. They eventually marry two women very different from themselves (Felix gets hitched with the calm but feisty Ashley, and Oscar settles down with the insecure Gaby) and have children. About twenty years later, Felix, now a neat-freak news writer and photographer, is kicked out by Ashley and moves in with Oscar, now a sports talk show host, whose ex-wife Gaby has left him because of his slobbiness. Now both divorcees will have to live in the same apartment in spite of their differences. In the middle of all the hassle about housekeeping, Felix and Oscar attempt to date Casey and Emily, two sisters who coincidentally are roommates in the same building, and they both have recently exited their own unhealthy relationships. Felix however is pretty insecure as he still has feelings for Ashley, which contrasts with the fact that Oscar feels better off away from his ex, this except when Gaby threatens to take away their kids in case Oscar doesn't pay the alimony on time. Oscar also holds poker games regularly, with one of the players being Teddy, his agent.

Don attempts to regain control over his life through physical changes and journal writing. Betty forbids him from attending Eugene's birthday party, and is flustered when she and Henry run into Don and Bethany on a date. Don's persistence with Faye results in an impromptu dinner date. Joey's sexism creates friction with Joan, forcing Peggy to take action.

It is the story of two divorced men - Felix Ungar, the neurotic neat freak, and Oscar Madison, the fun-loving slob - who decide to live together, even though their personalities clash. Simon based the story on the experiences of his brother when he was going through a divorce.
