After a wild night out, a teenage girl is brought to Princeton Plainsboro with severely swollen appendages. The team must work to diagnose the young girl, who is less than honest about what happened the night she fell ill. As her condition worsens, she becomes unable to distinguish fact from fiction. Meanwhile, Cuddy, Wilson and House spend a weekend away from the hospital to attend a medical conference, but things don't go as planned when House's private investigator, Lucas Douglas, returns.

When DNA evidence reveals a man was wrongfully convicted of murder, the team reopens the 1986 case of a fifteen-year-old girl who was murdered during a date at a popular lover's lane.

In a flashback to the 80s, 17-year-old Lily Rhodes gets kicked out of boarding school and runs away to Los Angeles, reconnecting with her parents, Rick and Cece and sister, Carol. Back in present day, Blair and Nate attend prom together, but the evening doesn't turn out exactly as planned and Chuck and Serena have a little something to do with that. Serena and Lily don't see eye-to-eye over Serena's recent run-in with the law. No Doubt performs in the flashbacks as an 80s band called "Snowed Out".

Adam and Dana attend their first school dance together, and Adam has to deal with the potentially embarrassing situation of having his mom at the event. Meanwhile, Murray tries to have the "birds and the bees" talk with Barry when he was supposed to have it with Adam. Adam has Erica keep Beverly distracted with a scrapbook so she doesn't go, but her plan backfires and Beverly attends anyway. Adam chastises her to leave, but when he finds Dana's mom is there as well dancing, he catches up to her to apologize and for her to return to bring life to the party.

In 2010, four good friends have had a string of bad luck with their adult lives: Adam has been dumped by his girlfriend; Lou is a party guy who cannot find the party; Nick's wife controls his every move; and Adam's video game obsessed nephew Jacob will not leave his basement. After a crazy night of drinking in a ski resort hot tub, the men wake up, heads pounding, in the year 1986. The friends can see each other as their proper age, but when they look at their reflections and to everyone else they appear as they did in 1986 (aside from Jacob). The quartet of men are at first concerned they must not mess anything up but then decide this may be a chance to change their destinies and get the futures (and women) they wanted.

The film follows the adventures of recent college graduate Matt Franklin, his twin sister Wendy, and his best friend Barry Nathan as they attempt to come to a conclusion about what they should do with their lives. Matt also pursues his dream girl Tori Fredreking at a wild Labor Day party in 1988 by telling her that he works for Goldman Sachs when in all actuality, he works at Suncoast Video.

The story follows Jerry Welbach (Brad Pitt) as he travels through Mexico to find an antique gun, The Mexican, and smuggle it into the United States. Five years earlier, Welbach had caused a traffic accident in which he hit the car of local mobster Arnold Margolese (Gene Hackman), who was jailed for five years after the police searched his car following the crash, finding someone tied up in his trunk. In compensation for the jail time, Welbach has been sent on various errands by Margolese's second-in-command, Bernie Nayman (Bob Balaban). This will be his final errand. Welbach has a girlfriend, Samantha (Julia Roberts), who constantly argues with him, among other things about his lack of commitment to their relationship.
