This commercial shows an outdoor wooded scene. As the camera pans down, we see a line of black beetles walking along. All of a sudden, rock music starts playing, and a black beetle with white racing stripes comes speeding by all the other bugs. He runs across a log bridge over a creek, shoots and skids past a centipede that walks out in front of him, jumps down a ravine full of mushrooms and toadstools, flies past two fighting praying mantises who stop to watch. It continues around a curve with a cliff on one side, passed a crowd of ants coming toward him, and finally jumps off a log high into the air and passes some dandelions before landing on a rock. As the color fades to black, a silhouette of the bug becomes a silhouette of a car - the new VW Beetle. The 21st century Beetle coming this fall. VW - That's Das Auto

Jimmy and Paul, two suspended cops working for the NYPD, are celebrating their ninth year as partners. Jimmy's daughter Ava is getting married, and the price for the wedding is close to fifty thousand dollars. Paul is worried that his wife is cheating on him, so he sets up a video camera in a teddy bear. While Jimmy is selling a 1952 Andy Pafko baseball card to pay for the wedding, Paul is calling his wife. However, Jimmy is robbed by Dave,who steals his card and Paul's favorite gun. They find out that Dave is going to rob a house that night, so they stake out the house to retrieve the card and gun. Jimmy arrests Dave and discovers he has sold the card and gun for drugs.

While Earl and Randy were in high school, Earl fixes their school football game to win a bet with a store owner, but realizes that he forced Randy to give up a touchdown that he would've gotten. Earl sends Randy back to high school to get his touchdown back, but finds out that Joy had his car impounded since he refused to give her any of his lotto money. Earl and Randy go to the impound yard to get the car back, but Earl has to pay $3000 for unpayed parking tickets. Meanwhile, during Randy's game, Earl and Catalina were there to give him support, and Randy almosts gets a touchdown, but fumbles the ball, which costs his team the game. Earl finds out that Joy got the $3000 to get his lotto money, but Randy drives up with his car and his money, and Randy told him that he fumbled the ball on purpose to win a bet for $3000.

Vince, debating over whether to take the big studio picture Smokejumpers, about forest-firefighters, goes with the guys and Ari in search clarity and guidance in the arid expanse of Joshua Tree National Park, with psychedelic mushrooms and their friend Eric Roberts. Lloyd agrees to watch Ari's house while Mrs. Gold and the kids are away, but Lloyd and his boyfriend use Ari's house to throw a party. Ari has a bad reaction to the mushrooms and gets lost at Joshua Tree. But eventually, on the way back, Vince uses his hallucinogenic experience to make a career choice.
