During a romantic dinner out one evening, Doug is inspired by the beautiful surroundings to proclaim his love for Carrie. Carrie is touched by his gesture and suggests that they renew their wedding vows. They set out to plan their vow renewal ceremony, but find that the planning is much more trouble than it's worth. They decide that it's better to cancel the ceremony to avoid the headaches they have encountered. However, once they tell everyone that the renewal is off, everyone assumes they are having marital problems, so Doug and Carrie decide to go ahead with the renewal after all, just to get their family and friends to shut up. The two find that planning the wedding is much more troublesome than expected. Meanwhile, Arthur, who offered a bottle of fine Port Wine as a gift to Doug and Carrie, has discovered that it is quite valuable and is hoping that they do not go ahead with the ceremony after all because he wants to sell the wine for a large profit on eBay.

After spotting Tommy Lee Royce but quickly losing track of him, Catherine is determined to find him and comes close to busting the kidnapping plot in the process. Kevin, who is overcome with guilt at seeing Nevison's despair, confesses everything to his shocked wife Jenny, who urges him not to take any money from Ashley. However, Kevin is reluctant to say no to his cut. Catherine becomes distressed when her ex-husband Richard continues with his refusal to accept Ryan.

After Lisa breaks Milhouse's heart yet again, he hooks up with a fifth-grader named Taffy, only to fall a victim to her pranks and be saved back by Lisa. At the same time, disgusted with the hairdressing service in Springfield in general, Homer decides to open his own hairdressing salon at home, only to ruin Marge's reputation of a good housewife.

Jimmy's new friend (Ashley Tisdale), from an improvisational class, agrees to pretend to be his girlfriend to make Sabrina jealous.

The legatine trial on the legitimacy of King Henry's marriage to Katherine continues despite the queen's refusal to attend, but the papal envoy receives notice to return to Rome and place the evidence to the judgement of the Curia. The king engages in frantic diplomacy with the French king, but he aligns with the Holy Roman Emperor instead. The pope procrastinates and Henry, goaded by the conspirators Thomas Boleyn, the Duke of Norfolk and Charles Brandon, strips Wolsey of his temporal power and properties, bans him from court and instructs him to resume his now sole role as Archbishop of York. Thomas More reluctantly succeeds Wolsey as Chancellor of the realm and Princess Margaret falls ill with tuberculosis and dies. Anne Boleyn subtly and opportunely asks the king to reacquaint himself with the subject of Lutheranism.

Ross and Rachel hire a male nanny. Chandler freaks when Monica tells him that she has met somebody else who is the funniest man she has ever met.
