The reason a standard compact disc (CD) is 74 minutes in length is because the longest known recording of Beethoven's 9th Symphony lasted that long and the original creators wanted this symphony to be able to be contained on this new audio format.

Alex DeLarge is the charismatic and psychopathic delinquent whose pleasures are classical music (especially Beethoven), rape, and ultraviolence. He is leader of a small gang of thugs. Alex narrates most of the film in "Nadsat", the fractured contemporary adolescent argot comprising Slavic (especially Russian), English, and Cockney rhyming slang.
