A teenager is admitted to the hospital after spitting up blood. Taub also discovers that the boy has been depressed and appears to have been cutting himself. More concern arises when the team breaks into the boy's house and finds his school yearbook with his classmates' faces crossed out and threatening words written about the school. Cuddy finds blood in her urine and undergoes tests for possible kidney cancer, while House grapples with emotionally supporting her, avoiding her, and denying that she is actually sick. Cuddy goes through several hallucinations while hospitalized culminating in a stylized version of Get Happy before her kidney problems were found to be a benign tumor. After speaking with her sister, Cuddy realizes that when House came to see her during her illness, he was under the influence of Vicodin. Realizing that he is unable to open up completely and share the pain that is part of any meaningful relationship, she ends their relationship. The episode is concluded with a scene that echoes the last scene of the previous season's finale (Help Me): House is sitting on his bathroom floor with a bottle of Vicodin in his hand. He expectantly looks at the doorway. Resigned, he takes the pills.

Turk learns about the kiss between J.D. and Carla, and not knowing whom to blame gives them both the silent treatment until he knows who initiated it. Dr. Cox needs Elliot's help in reaching out to a teenage epileptic patient. Jordan gets Botox and renders her face temporarily frozen, which causes a problem when it threatens to keep her from attending Dr. Cox's teaching award acceptance. The Janitor gets unexpected reactions from his new uniform.

In the pilot episode, a group of musical siblings convinces their mother to help them out by singing with them as they record a pop song in their garage. Through the efforts of the 10-year-old son Danny, they find a manager who helps make the song a Top-40 hit. After some more convincing, Mom finally agrees that the family can go on tour. They acquire an old school bus, paint it and depart to Las Vegas for their first live gig at Caesars Palace. Each subsequent episode features the band performing in various venues. The shows would often contrast suburban life with the adventures of a show-biz family "on the road." After the first season the show focused more on the "at home" themes and less on their touring.

Later that day at work, this guy is getting angry and banging on the vending machine. The same guy comes in with his accent and tells him everything will be okay. Whether it's complimenting the coffee, telling a woman who's having a bad day to turn her frown upside down, or participating in a meeting he's always in a good mood, and always talking in this Jamaican accent. One of his co-workers actually asks to verify that he is from Minnesota because they don't understand why he talks this way. We finally learn when he offers to put a smile on everyone's face. He takes people for a ride in his new VW Beetle. When they get back, everyone is talking in the same accent and is happy and smiling too. I hate Mondays. Yeah, they're the worst. No worries, man.
