Michael hums the song while trying to perform basketball tricks.
Michael comes in to work prepared to pit the office staff against the warehouse in a game of basketball, with the losers having to work on Saturday. Michael picks Jim, Ryan, Stanley (Michael's "secret weapon"), and, reluctantly, Dwight and Phyllis (as an alternate). The game begins and Stanley, despite being seen as a great option for Michael's team (due to his race), is a horrible player. Furthermore, Michael cannot make a shot, nor is he a fan of passing or defending. During the game, Roy and Jim gradually become aggressive toward each other, with Pam looking on. Pam is once caught staring a sweaty Jim. At a crucial point in the game, Michael is accidentally hit in the face. Michael claims it is a "flagrant personal intentional foul". He pettily stops the game and declares the office winners since they were winning when the foul occurred. The warehouse finds the call unfair and Michael caves under pressure, conceding the victory to the warehouse staff. As everybody returns to work, Kevin demonstrates his excellent shooting skills. Afterwards, Michael, in a rare moment of heart, tells the office that they don't have to come in on Saturday either. However, his justification does little to calm them: "Like coming in an extra day is going to prevent us from being downsized."

I Second That Emotion
Date:
November 21, 1999
This Television Episode plays
Sweet Georgia Brown performed by Brother Bones & His Shadows
Bender whistles this song.
During Nibbler's birthday party, Bender becomes annoyed at how little attention he is getting and flushes Nibbler down the toilet. Distraught, Leela wishes that Bender could understand human emotions, so Professor Farnsworth installs an empathy chip in Bender so that he can feel Leela's emotions as she feels them. Leela's sadness of losing Nibbler becomes too great for Bender, who flushes himself down the toilet to find and rescue Nibbler in the sewers. Fry and Leela follow Bender and encounter a group of sewer mutants who live in fear of a monster called El Chupanibre, believing it to be Nibbler. Nibbler returns safely, but it turns out that he is not the monster, which appears alongside him. Bender tries to fight El Chupanibre, but Leela's fear for Nibbler's safety immobilizes him, so he convinces her to think only about herself rather than others, which gives Bender the strength to drive off the monster. Bender's empathy chip is later removed, though he has learned nothing.

Coach Roy McCormick was once college basketball's top mastermind. His attention began to turn on what endorsement contracts he could secure instead of actually coaching his team. Also, Coach McCormick has a quick temper. He lets his temper get the best of him in most situations, and after accidentally killing an opposing teams mascot during a game, he is banned from coaching college basketball (again) until he can show that he can control his anger. Roy waits for a coaching position, yet nobody calls. Eventually he receives only one offer: the Mount Vernon Junior High School, coach Roy's former basketball team is looking for somebody to coach their basketball team, the Smelters. Roy reluctantly accepts the offer, hoping that a few weeks at the school will prove his good intentions and restore him to his high-living ways as a celebrated college coach. As Roy begins coaching the squad, he gets into a situation that he has never been in before and doesn't know what happened to him. He eventually starts teaching the concepts of basketball to his new team. With the teaching and learning done between the two, the Smelters eventually start having success. The success leads Coach McCormick to find what he has been missing all this time, not a big coaching gig, not a high-dollar endorsement, but his simple love of the game.
