At Popisms.com, we show you how pop culture (TV, movies, books, ads) is connected to other pop culture. For example, what song is in that Olympics commercial or TV episode? What book is that character reading? What music is another song sampling? We answer these questions and many more.

Plot / Description

This sad commercial shows sheltered and abused animals including dogs and cats. Some of the puppies and kittens are injured or sick. The singer, Sarah McLachlan, comes on as the spokesperson for the SPCA to request a monthly donation to help these animals.

Voiceover

Hi, I'm Sarah McLachlan. Please say that you'll be the answer for an innocent animal who's suffering right now. An animal who needs your help. Please, call the number on your screen or go online and join the BCSPCA with a monthly gift right now. For just $18 a month, you'll rescue animals from their abusers, provide medical care, food, shelter and love. Call or join online in the next 30 minutes and we'll send you the photo of an animal in the shelter and this beautiful tote bag, free. This is your chance to say, I won't sit by while an animal suffers. Please call, or go online right now.

(Lyrics)
I will be the answer
At the end of the line
I will be there for you
While you take the time
In the burning of uncertainty
I will be your solid ground
I will hold the balance
If you can't look down

If it takes my whole life
I won't break, I won't bend
It will all be worth it
Worth it in the end
Cause I can only tell you what I know
That I need you in my life
When the stars have all gone out
You'll still be burning so bright

Cast me gently
Into morning
For the night has been unkind

Written Text

Every hour an animal is beaten or abused.
They suffer alone and terrified.
Waiting for someone to help.
