Robert Glasper's composition, "Be Courageous," honors 20 years of courage & greatness from Kobe Bryant. To commemorate Black History Month, the song is crafted using a 4/4-6/8 pattern in remembrance of April 4, 1968, the day we lost a historical leader. "Nike Basketball presents: "Be Courageous" by Robert Glasper" So this, still kinda puttin' the vibe together, but it's basically like representing Kobe's 20 years, you know, looking back at his career. It's like, oh man, the great things he's done. Sure. You know. So this is kinda like the Kobe theme song, if you will. He's all over the floor. Now he's picking up Kobe. Kobe flying home! Two-hander. Kobe wins it for the Lakers! Yo! What's up, man? I'll play the beginning for you, so you can get the vibe. OK. And then just play it down and get the vibe up. Or maybe it's too many notes. Maybe... Can we make it longer? Huh? Just make it longer, the phrase longer. Or something like that. Or stay on. Do you think the feeling is coming across? I really want to make sure in the music we're getting what this whole thing's about. You know what? That 4-4-6-8 part, I kinda want that to be more defined. Those numbers are actually significant because we lost a leader on April 4th, 1968. It actually brings the story around, so I wanna hit those hits a little more and make them more pronounced. I want to make sure it sounds champion in celebrating Kobe, even with the hills and the valleys of it. Feels good to come home. I know the fans are, you know, are bored, but nonetheless, it feels good to come home. Kobe's home! Kobe's home! Kobe's home! Kobe for three. It's short again! Airball! Airball! Three times Kobe's shot airballs! And the pace, and we kinda. I like that, yeah. All right, one, two, You hear struggle. And you fly out of that. It will drive it even more. The passion ? the championship. The LA Lakers are the NBA Champions! We're leaving the struggles ? With the 13th pick in the 1996 NBA draft, the Charlotte Hornets select Kobe Bryant from Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania. A coming out party for the high school kid, Kobe Bryant!
