At Popisms.com, we show you how pop culture (TV, movies, books, ads) is connected to other pop culture. For example, what song is in that Olympics commercial or TV episode? What book is that character reading? What music is another song sampling? We answer these questions and many more.

Plot / Description

"Skydiving Doritos Ad: DIVE"
This ad was a semi-finalist in the 2014 Doritos Crash the Super Bowl contest.

The advertisement begins with a plane full of people ready to go skydiving and a pilot listening to a football game over the radio. One woman in the back pulls out a bag of Doritos just as the back hatch of the plane begins to open. The air sucks the bag of chips out of her hand, and everyone jumps after it. The plays being called in the football game match up with the activity in the plane and the air. A fumble is called as soon as the bag flies away, and all the football players scrambling for the ball match up with the skydivers trying to recover the falling snack. The pilot notices all of this too and jumps out of the plane for his chance at the ball/bag. Finally, the pilot grabs the bag and crashes through the ceiling of a house where everyone is watching the football game just as a touchdown is called - right into the arms of Laura James? from ANTM.

It's been a thrilling game thus far, but with the championship on the line, it all comes down to this play. Jackson drops back to pass... and there's a fumble! There's a fumble on the play! They're scrambling for possession. Brooks has it, but he's smashed by Williams. And out of nowhere, here comes Davis. He grabs the ball and breaks a tackle. He's flying down the sideline. He's on the 30, the 20, the 10!
Woo!
Touchdown! Unbelievable.
