Doug, Carrie, Deacon and Kelly are all invited to the wedding of some mutual friends - who none of them can stand. When they get the invitation and realize that the wedding is in Maryland, Doug and Carrie come up with a plan to say they were there, without actually attending. All they need is the help of Deacon and Kelly to corroborate their story. At the last minute, Deacon and Kelly have to cancel their plans because one of their kids is sick. Doug and Carrie end up driving all the way to Maryland in a rush to make sure their presence is noticed by the bride and groom, so they can get credit for their attendance.
Meanwhile, Arthur convinces Spence to play along as his son in order to get a deal on buying a new pair of shoes.
