Them, Robot part of The Simpsons Season 23
Homer sings this song while riding his "chair gondola" in the nuclear power plant.
"Amore" is Italian for "Love", so the song is "That's Love". Lyrics: (In Napoli where love is King) (When boy meets girl) (Here's what they say) When the moon hits your eye Like a big-a pizza pie (like a big pizza pie) That's amore When the world seems to shine Like you've had too much wine That's amore Bells'll ring (Bells will ring) Ting-a-ling-a-ling Ting-a-ling-a-ling And you'll sing "Vita bella" Hearts'll play (Hearts will play) Tippi-tippi-tay Tippi-tippi-tay Like a gay tarantella When the stars make you drool Joost-a like pasta fazool (Just like pasta fazool) That's amore When you dance down the street With a cloud at your feet, you're in love When you walk in a dream But you know you're not dreamin', signore 'Scusami, but you see (Excuse me, but you see) Back in old Napoli, that's amore Lucky fella

I, Robot
written by
Isaac Asimov
Date:
1950
This Book is parodied by
Them, Robot part of The Simpsons Season 23
In addition to the episode title being a play on words of the title of the book, this episode of The Simpsons has many parallels if I, Robot due to Homer's interactions with the nuclear plant's new robot workers.
I, Robot is a collection of nine science fiction short stories by Isaac Asimov, first published by Gnome Press in 1950 in an edition of 5,000 copies. The stories originally appeared in the American magazines Super Science Stories and Astounding Science Fiction between 1940 and 1950. The stories are woven together as Dr. Susan Calvin tells them to a reporter (the narrator) in the 21st century. Though the stories can be read separately, they share a theme of the interaction of humans, robots and morality, and when combined they tell a larger story of Asimov's fictional history of robotics.

Bossypants
written by
Tina Fey
Date:

This Book is referred to by
Them, Robot part of The Simpsons Season 23
Homer arrives at Mr. Burns' office after the robots have turned against him. Mr. Burns is seen sitting in his chair, reading the book 'Bossypants' by Tina Fey.
Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon -- from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence. Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've all suspected: you're no one until someone calls you bossy.

After Mr. Burns replaces all human employees with robots, Smithers is working as a substitute teacher. He is pelted with spitballs while standing at the chalkboard, and is so upset with the students that he tells them they will not be reading 'Death in Venice' after all. Later in the episode, books are thrown at the robots, who have now turned against humans. One of the books thrown is 'Death in Venice'.
Death in Venice is about a great writer suffering writer's block who visits Venice and is liberated and uplifted, then increasingly obsessed, by the sight of a stunningly beautiful youth. Though he never speaks to the boy, much less touches him, the writer finds himself drawn deep into ruinous inward passion; meanwhile Venice, and finally the writer himself, succumb to a cholera plague.
