Before controversial shows move on to high school theater programs, they are tried out at Harry S Truman High School, led by teacher Lou Volpe, whose students go on to become renowned and respected in the entertainment industry. In one such group of students are couple Brandon and Justin, the former of who publicly wishes to viewed as heterosexual, and sporting players Zach Philippi and Bobby Ryan, who despite being ridiculed, act under Volpe's direction.
