A suspicious Doakes follows Dexter at all times, which makes it impossible for Dexter to kill. Thirty-eight days after his last kill, Dexter gains an opportunity, but finds himself unable to murder gang leader Little Chino. An emotionally unstable Debra returns to work in the Homicide Department. She tries to resume a normal lifestyle, but finds herself under scrutiny from the public. Paul tries to convince Rita that he was framed by Dexter, but she refuses to believe him in spite of the evidence presented to her. Scuba divers discover the bodies of 30 of Dexter's mutilated victims on the ocean floor.

Jenna takes Liz out after her breakup, and Jack has trouble negotiating with his nanny due to sleepless nights. Pete and Frank start a band.

Liz becomes angry when no one seems to remember her 40th birthday on show night; Tracy decides to break character all night; Jack struggles with the consequences of his promises to not drinking during Avery's pregnancy.

The Parks Department tries to draw media attention for the harvest festival, but the press becomes fixated on Ben's past political mistakes. Meanwhile, Andy takes on all of April's errands with the hopes of convincing her not to move to Indianapolis.

Ray is planning to get Mickey out of his sticky situation with the cops by working with old employer Lee Drexler. Ray gets Lee to act as a legal representative for Mickey. Their angle is to say that Mickey is senile, which is signed off on by a doctor whom they pay, and then appoint Ray as his guardian. That means that Mickey can't rightfully participate in Muncie's sting. Ray also tries to convince the Minassians to let Mickey out of the deal they made, and asks for help from an Armenian pop star whom Ray had helped out in the past. Meanwhile, Cochran is gathering more evidence in his investigation of Ray, using the vetting of the Finney NFL deal as a reason to dig into any potential dirty business. Cochran is getting closer to learning the truth. He meets with Finney, gets a sense of where he stands, and also bribes his way into Avi's storage locker. Worried about Bridget, Abby searches her room for something that will help her figure out what's wrong. She finds Mr. Donellen's pill bottle and confronts Bridget about it. When Abby learns the truth, she first threatens to call the cops. Donellen lies to Abby telling her that Bridget is obsessed with him because they both lost loved ones.

Caputo's leadership is challenged and the inmates are in for a long night of lockdown after workers make an unsettling discovery.

Dexter finds himself in a strange new world when he attempts to hire a nanny for Harrison so he can have time to continue to stalk and kill Boyd Fowler. Meanwhile, Debra, who takes the lead on a bizarre double homicide, is displeased when Batista suggests bringing in an annoying rookie officer who has her own theories on the case. Things heat up for Dexter when Quinn notices strange similarities between Trinity Killer suspect 'Kyle Butler' and Dexter Morgan.

Burt hires Barney to help him with his receipts during corporate tax season, and while caught up in the stress Burt accidentally makes a mean comment about Virginia's job, so she decides to change careers and become a tarot card reader. Meanwhile, Sabrina contemplates moving to Africa with Wyatt, upsetting Jimmy.

In the episode, Josh and Jim from Dunder Mifflin Stamford, as well as Michael and Dwight from Dunder Mifflin Scranton leave for Philadelphia for the annual office supply convention. Michael, angry at both Jim for leaving the Scranton branch, as well as Josh for being superior to him, tries to one-up both Jim and Josh at every opportunity. Meanwhile, Kelly sets up Pam on a double date with one of her friends which goes nowhere. Toby's interest in Pam is piqued, beginning an unrequited crush on his part.

Ted walks in on Robin's date sitting on the couch in the buff. When she later admits she hooked up with him, all the gang try it. Lily angers Marshall when she tries to think of 50 reasons to have sex. Although not a match, Ted starts to forget Stella by dating a new girl and successfully uses the "Naked Man" technique on her.

Marshall and Barney begin to argue over GNB's demolition of the Arcadian Hotel, and it's up to Robin and Lily to help them make up using cocktails. Ted plans a romantic weekend away for him and Zoey.

Even after Billy apologizes to him, Eric refuses to work with him again. Lloyd takes a leave of absence when his boyfriend dumps him, so Ari jumps through hoops to get them back together. Turtle goes in on his cousin Ronnie's latest shady investment opportunity.

While Claire runs herself ragged trying to play peacemaker with Haley and Alex, Phil sneaks off for a nice relaxing day at the spa. Meanwhile, Gloria is horrified by Jay's morbid plans to purchase two primo side-by-side crypts in preparation of the inevitable future, and Cameron decides he wants to write a book that celebrates the fact that Lily is adopted -- however, during the process he unearths artifacts that are quite disturbing.

When Rallo and his pals Bernard and Theodore perform in the school talent show, their rap about fiscal responsibility is not well-received by their classmates. Meanwhile, after Cleveland gets his own cable-access television show, the reviews are less than positive so he takes some tips from the most successful daytime talk shows that appeal to women.
