About Us | Credits

Our site uses several resources that were created and developed by others. We'd like the give credit and thanks to...

We use several icons from both the Gnome Desktop Icons (Gnome 2.18 Icon Theme) and Tango Desktop Icons sets. Both of these icon sets are released under the GNU General Public License (GPL). We actually took our copies of these icons from Wikimedia Commons as they display and categorize the icons making them easy to view and find.

In addition to using some of the icons as-is, we also edited some of them for use on the site. Because of this, we are re-releasing the following edited icons per the terms of the GPL:

HTML Processing

We use the HTML Agility Pack library (un-edited) by Simon Mourier for various HTML processing needs. While it doesn't make sense for software, this library is released under the Creative Commons Sharealike license.

We use FCKeditor which is an open source WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) HTML editor. It is release under the GNU General Public License (GPL), GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL), and/or Mozilla Public License (MPL).

jQuery JavaScript framework is used on the site for various client-side scripting tasks and is released under the MIT License.

A CAPTCHA is a system to help distinguish "bots" (usually used to post spam) from real people. They are typically implemented by making you type in a word or phrase from a distorted image before you can submit a form. uses CAPTCHAs on our registration page, and on other pages that allow guest to participate (logged in members do not have to fill out CAPTCHAs).

While we wish we didn't need to use a CAPTCHA system, we have chosen reCAPTCHA because it helps to digitise books and newspapers (as well as old-time radio shows for people who use the audio captcha). reCAPTCHA is a free service that anyone can use on their web site.
