The team arrives at the Battlefield, however Pied Piper still isn't finished, and Richard is having trouble concentrating due to the presence of an ex-girlfriend at the conference. Dinesh meets an attractive girl who appears to be proficient in Java, but when Gilfoyle tells him that the Java code was in fact written by him, Dinesh loses interest in the girl. Erlich panics when it transpires that one of the judges of the Battlefield is the man whose wife he had an affair with years earlier, and in an attempt to remedy the situation, Erlich ends up having sex with the judge's new wife, which results in the judge attacking Erlich on stage, preventing the Pied Piper Battlefield presentation.

Carrie's boss, Mr. Kaplan, asks her to keep an eye on his son Trevor who he's bringing to the office. Carrie, who sees this as an opportunity to make a good impression with her boss, eagerly agrees. The problem arises when Trevor squeezes Carrie's breast - leaving her unsure of how to react because he's the boss' son. Meanwhile, Doug and his buddies are preparing for a bowling tournament. He makes an effort to be extra nice to Denise, the new shoe-rental girl, who Deacon, Spence and Danny have been teasing and making fun of because they think she's ugly. Denise mistakes Doug's friendliness for affection, and begins to pretend that her brother is her boyfriend so Doug will understand that she is not interested. Doug becomes irritated, and insists that his congeniality was really only a "mercy flirt".

After seeing Doug eat a hearty breakfast of pancakes and sausage, Carrie advises him to eat a light lunch since they’ll be going to a play with some work friends of hers. Not only does Doug ignore her advice, he participates in an egg roll eating competition during lunchtime. By the time the play comes around, Doug has such an upset stomach that he can’t stop belching. Carrie is infuriated and sends her husband home early only to find him stuffing his face with Yodel chocolate cakes when she arrives. Carrie convinces Doug to go see a therapist who will help him overcome his poor eating habits and lose weight. Doug’s therapist, Dr. Wagner, gives him some great tips on watching his food intake, and Carrie is happily surprised. Soon she starts giving her own suggestions on some of the “problems the doctor can help Doug with . . . like watching too much television, being more spontaneous, tips on being a better lover, etc. It’s not until Deacon gets in on the game and adds some issues of his own to Doug's “therapy list that the truth gets out.

On Valentine's Day, Jules wishes that Grayson would share his feelings with her; Andy "dates" Bobby; and Travis ask Laurie's help to buy a nice gift for Kirsten.
