Gavin Belson faces public backlash from the story published by Cantwell. He ends up threatening her with legal action if she doesn't reveal her source. Meanwhile, Erlich sets up an expensive Hawaiian-themed party at Alcatraz to launch Bachmanity while Big Head warns him that he can lose all his severance money if Belson finds out he shared the story with Cantwell, which constitutes a breach of his NDA agreement. Erlich dismisses him and says he'll fix it. Richard starts dating Winnie, a coder for Facebook, and eventually brings her home. The following morning, Gilfoyle and Dinesh notice that Winnie uses spaces instead of tabs for coding, a technique which, they tell her, Richard despises. When she reveals this to him, Richard tries to deny it as an issue, but the relationship eventually goes sour because of his inability to deal with it. Meanwhile, Big Head's business manager, Arthur Clayman, warns him that he has to control spending or risk going bankrupt. At the same time, Erlich phones Big Head, announcing that he acquired Code/Rag, Cantwell's blog, for $500,000, thus buying her into not revealing her source, to Clayman's shock. Dinesh flirts via video chat with Elizabet, one of Pied Piper's outsourced coders who lives in Estonia, but when he finally reveals himself she mentions her "boyfriend", while Gilfoyle mocks him. During the party, which Erlich dubbed "Bachmanity Insanity", Sasha, the party manager, tells Bachman that the supplier's checks have bounced. Right before the big speech, Clayman informs him that Bachmanity has gone broke.

Ian Adams (Mark Cunningham), the head of Kono's former pro surfing team, Coral Prince, is shot in front of a large crowd. McGarrett suggests Kono sit out the case, but she is determined to find the killer and talks with old friend Ben Bass (Joshua Dallas), the son of Carlton Bass (Kevin Sorbo) who was Adams' business partner. She learns that he founded a surf village located near the beach where Adams was killed, but also learns that gangsters are trying to get them to leave. The rest of the team determine that Adams was targeted and killed by a sniper from a hill overlooking the beach. Realizing Ben owns a rifle, they also learn that according to Adams' will, Ben will become his beneficiary, and hence is a prime suspect. However, it is later revealed that it was Carlton who organized Adams' death and is arrested.

J.D. gets called in to work on his day off, but the only thing he wants to do is get home. Meanwhile Elliot tries to convince everyone she is an expert on endocrinology following her brief fellowship, Carla has doubts over being a parent, and Turk has to wrestle over an issue that will either help his career or break his conscience.

When drawings depicting the death of a mentally disabled teenager are found next to the victim's grave, the detectives reopen the 1993 case and investigate the victim's turbulent home life.

Henry Roth, a marine-life veterinarian living in Hawaii, meets Lucy Whitmore, an art teacher, in a cafe one morning. They hit it off and agree to meet in the cafe the next morning. The following day, however, Lucy claims not to know Henry. The cafe owner pulls Henry aside and explains that Lucy suffers from anterograde amnesia (called 'Goldfield Syndrome' in the movie) from a car accident she was in a year earlier. Her condition has left her with no memory of anything between the day of the accident and the present, because she is incapable of converting short-term memories into long-term memories. At the beginning of each day, she loses all memory of the past day. She innocently believes every day to be October 13, 2002. Her father and brother attempt to reenact the activities of October 13th, her father's birthday, every day, to prevent her from suffering from learning about the accident.
