Jeff is re-connected with his former law firm colleague Alan Connor and finds himself returning to some of his evil ways of expensive suits and late night partying. Alan takes Jeff to a law firm event to see his former boss Ted, and the study group shows up to "rescue" him. While Annie, Abed and Troy sneak into the offices to gather dirt on Alan, Jeff watches in horror as Pierce, Britta and Shirley are corrupted by the lawyers.

Fiona and Jimmy try to get the kids back after they are taken away by child protective services, even going so far as to attempt to track Monica down and to ask Veronica and Kev to apply to foster them. She ultimately gets Frank to agree to clean up and petition for their return. Fiona quits her job at the grocery store when the manager won't let her off to go find the kids. Frank gets Sheila to pose as Monica since the petition for custody requires signatures from both parents. Frank and Sheila must attend a parenting class in order to get the kids back; Sheila hopes that the class might help her understand why Karen ran away. Meanwhile Veronica and Kev continue their quest to have a baby. Veronica convinces Kev to have sex with her mother, as the artificial insemination was not working. Mickey's dad finds Ian and Mickey in a sexual position; he beats them both and then calls a prostitute to have sex with Mickey, forcing Ian to watch. At the end of the episode, Fiona finds out that Frank was the one who called child protective services.

The advertisement begins with a little boy in his front yard with a "time machine" he has created out of cardboard boxes and flexible tubing. He stops a neighbor walking down the street eating a bag of Doritos and asks him if he wants to try his Doritos-powered time machine. The man agrees and ends up giving the boy his bag of chips. The boy plays music, makes noise in a bullhorn, and kicks the cardboard boxes while the man is inside, and the man ends up believing he really is travelling through time. An old man comes out of the house while all this is going on and chases the little boy out of his yard. He sprinkles some chips into the water, and a mermaid appears to eat the snack. They stair into each other's eyes as if they are in love, but in the next scene, the mermaid is mounted to the guy's wall like a trophy fish. A bad little boy comes in and starts doing things to the man like playing with his cast, tickling his feet, putting the bedpan on the man's head like a hat, drawing a bikini on his cast and glasses on his face with a marker, and taking selfies with him. Then he steals his Doritos and teases him by putting the chip close to his mouth but not eating it. The man breaks his cast and grabs the little boy's arm to get to the delicious chips.
