The drama television series, One Tree Hill is set in the fictional town of Tree Hill in North Carolina and originally follows the lives of two half-brothers, Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan Scott (James Lafferty), who compete for positions on their school's basketball team. Their relationship evolves from heartless enemies to caring brothers as the show progresses, and the drama that ensues from the brothers' romances with female characters and from the basketball atmosphere are significant elements within the series.

The team investigates the 2005 murder of an Army recruiter, who was killed two days before his deployment to Iraq, and uncover evidence that the victim may have been involved in a high-profile jewelry heist. The victim is seen by one of his recruits at his grave site.

The residents of Tree Hill must deal with the aftermath of the shocking accident. Nathan and Rachel are okay while Cooper still remains in a coma. In the midst of all the chaos, Dan extends his help to Karen now that she is pregnant. Lucas and Peyton's friendship continues to grow stronger. Previously rivals, Brooke and Rachel move past their differences and manage to become good friends. Brooke has a difficult decision to make about her relationship with Lucas. Skills decides to try out for the Ravens. This episode is named after a song by The Cure.
