Because he is upset, he goes to "blow off steam" by playing racquetball with a friend. He's a little too aggressive in the game, and when he hits the ball it bounces back and hits him in the eye. He ends up going to the emergency room, and the ER doctor makes him wear an eye patch. He has to ride the bus home from the hospital (still carrying his racket and wearing his eyepatch), and some rough looking guys on the bus think he's a tough guy because of the patch and end up chasing him down to prove that they are tougher.
