The Cure

On the trail of a cannibalistic killer, Luther is dogged at every step by ghosts from his past. Isolated and on edge, it takes every fibre of his being to keep it together. Could a cold case help to unlock a mystery that's tormenting him? Meanwhile, the serial killer is still on the loose. Benny's hacking skills have revealed a list of hundreds of potential victims but, with a rapidly escalating number of crime scenes, Luther must use all his ingenuity to work out where the murderer is headed next. Discovering it's all part of a macabre end game, Luther is forced to put himself and his new colleague Emma into the heart of danger to try to stop the killing.

Rachel moves in with Dev and the two have good times together and fall in love. But as the months pass, they start finding problems: their conflicting amounts of cleanliness; the fact that Dev hasn't told his parents that he's even seeing Rachel. Then Rachel learns that a work promotion would require her to move to Chicago for six months. She has a breakdown: does she wish to continue her career as a musical PR agent? She decides to go to Chicago for the interview. At home, Dev starts using a pasta-maker she gave him when they first moved in together, and he discovers that he's great at making pasta. She returns and says she turned down the job, but her PR firm will make accommodations for her to make sure she's happy with them. Their relationship continues happily. This episode takes place almost entirely within their apartment.

Darlene steals a gun, and has a conversation with Angela that implies they are longtime friends. Elliot and fsociety re-plan their attack but still need the Dark Army. Elliot meets Whiterose, a transgender woman obsessed with time, who says the Dark Army backed out because Gideon, suspicious of Elliot's story, turned E Corp's hacked server into a honeypot. With help from Darlene, Elliot shuts this down. Tyrell finds fsociety's .dat file after Gideon tells him of the honeypot and meets with Mr. Robot, and it appears that the two are working together. He reminds Mr. Robot that he knows his "dirty little secret" when Mr. Robot refuses to cooperate, which Mr. Robot shrugs off. When police question the Wellicks about Sharon's murder, Joanna secretly breaks her own water with a fork to distract them. Elliot tells Darlene of their plan's success, and an ecstatic Darlene tells him she loves him. He kisses Darlene, who is revolted. She asks if he "had forgotten again". Elliot realizes that Darlene is his sister, but he has no recollection of her. He finds a CD that contains old family photos - revealing that Mr. Robot is his father.

Flashback: Shayla moves in next door and gives Elliot a pet fish. She wants to be his friend despite his awkwardness around people. She offers to contact a suboxone supplier for Elliot. In the present, it has been one month since Shayla's murder. Angela makes a deal: she will lie and say she broke chain of custody with the .dat file that incriminated Terry Colby, if in exchange, Colby will testify that E Corp covered up the toxic waste leak in 1993. Gideon warns Angela that her plan will put Allsafe out of business. Meanwhile, Darlene and Mr. Robot attempt to bring fsociety back together. She sets up an in-person meeting with mysterious Whiterose, leader of the Dark Army. Tyrell, at a party celebrating Knowles's promotion, entices Sharon up to an isolated rooftop and strangles her while seducing her. Elliot confesses to his therapist that he hacks everybody in an attempt to find a way out of loneliness.

Adam is excited about his laser tag birthday party but also badly wants a first kiss with Dana, so Barry helps him plan a make-out party instead. Elsewhere, Murray and Pops are captivated by the opening of Al Capone's vault. Murray later gives Adam a laser tag gift in front of his friends, and Adam rejects the present as if it's uncool. After learning about the make-out party from Erica, Beverly tries to crash it to stop Adam from kissing Dana in front his friends Dave Kim, Chad Kremp and Emmy Mirsky. Embarrassed over almost kissing in front of Adam's mom, Dana calls Adam a big idiot for not having a laser tag party. In the end, the group finally plays Laser Tag with Murray's gift. Dave Kim tries to shoot Dana, but Adam takes the shot for her to keep her "alive", and they share their first kiss. Meanwhile, Al Capone's empty vault disappoints Pops.

After his post-Medellin difficulties, Vince is on the fast track once again, as he prepares for a driving test as well as an appearance with Jay Leno to promote his new movie Gatsby, directed by Martin Scorsese. Meanwhile, Sloan presents Eric with the idea of getting his own place, but worries about how it will affect his friends. Lloyd threatens to quit if Ari doesn't promote him, so Ari counters with a proposition of his own.

Ari shows interest in Eric's indie script, imagining it as a big studio production with Vince as the lead, but the novice writers, believing they now have a bidding war on their hands, up their price. Determined to postpone his post-breakup depression, Drama gets pumped for his guest appearance on The View (with Whoopi Goldberg and Elisabeth Hasselbeck playing themselves). Drama, set up by his Five Towns co-stars, who have supplied the show with photos of Jacqueline, embarrasses himself, much to the frustration of publicist Shauna.

A class assignment reveals the deepest secrets and desires of Lucas and the students at Tree Hill High. Worried about college prospects, Skills turns to Haley. Nathan wrestles with Deb's suicide attempt. Chase learns that Brooke cheated on her calculus exam. This episode is named after a song by The Cure.
