Some two months after battling the walkers in Alexandria, Rick and Daryl head out for a supply run and encounter a smooth-talking man known as Jesus; they bring him back to Alexandria as prisoner after a tussle. Meanwhile, Michonne follows Spencer into the woods and, with anonymous help from Carl, aids him in dispatching and burying the walker that once was his mother, Deanna. That night, Rick and Michonne have sex, and are later awoken by Jesus who wants to talk.

This episode is narrated from Dr. Cox's, rather than J.D.'s, viewpoint. Dr. Cox discusses the hospital and Jordan in his sessions with his psychiatrist, Dr. Gross. Elliot meets Paul Flowers, who she thinks is an attractive and charming doctor, but later learns he's actually a nurse. Carla finally says yes to Turk's proposal.

Birdee Pruitt is a Chicago housewife who is invited onto the fictitious Toni Post talk show under the pretense of a free makeover. The makeover she is given is hardly what she has in mind...as she is ambushed with the revelation that her husband Bill has been having an affair behind her back and wants a divorce so he can be with his mistress Connie, who also happens to be her best friend. Humiliated on national television, Birdee and her daughter Bernice move back to Birdee's hometown of Smithville, Texas with Birdee's eccentric mother Ramona to try and make a fresh start.
