"Shhh - BMW i3" This ad starts with a teen boy at home. His dad shows up in his doorway, and the boy is surprised because he didn't hear his dad come home. The father says it is because of his silent electric car. This gives the teen an idea, and he sneaks out and drives the car to see his girlfriend while his dad sleeps. He would have gotten away with it too, excempt that he pluggged the electric car back in when he got home, and that notified his dad via his smartphone. Son: Hey, dad. I didn't hear you pull up. The commercial begins with black smoke billowing out of a bus exhaust pipe. Everyone at the bus stop has to get under cover because of how much terrible smog fills up the air. We are shown a dirty old fashioned (analog) diesel pump, and a dirty semi tractor trailer driving down a highway with factories and smoke stacks in the background. The scary old driver of the fuel trick laughs and then starts coughing, and black diesel smoke pours out of his mouth too. We then see a man with an early diesel powered car that is vibrating and also spewing out dark smoke and causing the dashboard hula dancer to shake uncontrollably. A similar car whose entire back-end is black from the smoke is having trouble getting up a small hill. We then see a slick, sporty, clean, and fast BMW drive by letting us know that technology has changed, and that diesel can be clean now.
