The commercial begins with a black Converse shoe hanging by its shoelaces and a heavy guitar riff. We are then shown show shots of graffiti (mostly words, but also two lightbulbs with faces), show closed city shops one with a beach scene painted on the wall, followed by an empty barber shop, and abandoned bikes on their sides with the wheels still spinning. We see why everything is empty and abandoned because there is something going on - a group is forming with people marching down the street with Converse logo flags with everyone dressed in red and black and dribbling basketballs. Some of these people include Jim Jones, Carlos Arroyo, Shammgod, Luam Keflezgy, Rune Glifberg, and Kenny Anderson. Then we see a man all dressed in white (including a white hood) sitting on some bleachers who is also bouncing a basketball. We then go back to the procession/parade of people organizing at the spot where the man in white is. Most of the people are walking, but some are skateboarding or riding bikes with old-school boomboxes attached to the handlebars. Some of the people are carrying equipment, a chair, and a trophy in the same manner a king or pharoh would be carried (a stand in the middle with long poles of people to hold). They stop in the middle of a basketball court with a huge Converse logo painted on it. A basketball trophy is brought to the man in white and put at his feet. As he takes his hood off, we see it is Julius "Dr. J" Erving. He apparently give his approval as he passes his basketball off to someone else and goes to stand with the other basketball players. The commercial ends with a basetball being passed at the camera which causes it to go black with the Converse logo. "Shoes are Boring. Wear Sneakers." This commercial tries to show you the difference between shoes and sneakers, but more importantly between the people who wear shoes vs. people who wear sneakers. Shoe people fall asleep at work, while sneaker guys play guitars and have fun. People who wear shoes go running first thing in the morning, while sneaker people still haven't come home from being out all night. Shoe people go to lame parties and can't dance, but sneaker people go to the cool after-parties. People who wear shoes fall down, but people who wear sneakers do cool skateboarding tricks. ...
