Exit Strategy

After a near-death experience Mac returns to his final unsolved case, a bodega robbery in 2002 that he and Aiden Burn worked on. New evidence suggests a young girl was kidnapped during the crime, so Mac and the team launch a country-wide manhunt to find her. She is reunited with her mother, and Mac tells Jo he believes he has done his share of good.

Marty makes plans for his post-Galweather future as Jeannie ponders hers when given a great career opportunity of leading a pod. Doug must slay his fear of navigating social settings when a chance to make himself a bigger role in the company when his own business falls into his lap. Tensions come to a head between Marty and Malcolm over money.

The team must find the person behind an ambush on a vehicle carrying Jada Khaled in order to save her and their case; Sam must face Jada for the first time since Sudan. The humanitarian agent from their previous mission was revealed to have been forced to ambush Jada Khaled after members of a French company who possessed ties with the Sudanese dictator kidnapped his family and threatened to kill them if he didn't kill her.

Xander, the third person sent to the other side of the fence by Jason, finds himself in a pit dug by the Abbies. He manages to get out and work his way back to town when he encounters a heavily-bearded and disheveled Adam Hassler. Theo treats Hassler, after which Jason grills Theo to see if Hassler revealed any info about the Abbies. Jason explains that Hassler is one of 12 "nomads" Pilcher sent out several years ago to investigate the world beyond Wayward Pines, and is the only one to make it back. C.J. and a team go outside the fence to search for fertile soil, but C.J. secretly tells Theo the trip is more about giving hope to the residents than it is about food. Theresa insists on joining the team so she can find Ben, and when she does discover his body, she blames Hassler. Elsewhere, Rebecca tries to protect Lucy, a girl not yet 12 years old, from Megan's reproduction mandate, after Lucy reveals she has started menstruating. At the end of the episode, Lucy's brother Frank encounters an Abbie on the town's merry-go-round.
